PE Schedule

I’m wondering if anyone may be in a situation similar to mine. I’m one of two PE teachers at my school and we each have our own gym. We each have our own schedules but this PE teacher will see half the school over two days and then I’ll see them (while I’m doing the same with the other half of the school). Has anyone had a schedule like this? Any suggestions on how we can teach what we want and remain “aligned?” For example, if they teach floor hockey in November (for example) and I wanted to teach it in April, those classes would be doing a unit 2 times and also would be bouncing between units on a weekly basis. Any idea or advice would be welcomed!

Setting Prices

I’m in the process of starting a sports academy, where to start I’m going to offer classes (<6-8 kids) for kids in a specific sport and a multi-sport offering, and mental performance trainings. Eventually my plan is to have additional offerings like leadership workshops, middle and high school competition class (fun conditioning class), and potentially like an intramural/scrimmage type offering for kids as they build the confidence in our trainings.

I’m debating how to set up my pricing. I don’t live in a very populated area and there aren’t any major cities around me, adding that because I don’t have a large area to draw from consistently and not have to worry about pricing.

I’m torn on setting my prices to attract families to attend (and to hopefully attend consistently) vs. I know my worth/value/experience and wanting to set it at that.

There’s also my internal debate of, I could set them lower and then increase as the demand grows - but I’d be worried of losing my first clients because of raising prices or not getting enough clients consistently. And, truthfully, yes this sports academy is being built to solve a problem, but it’s also being done for me to make money for my family.

I’d love to hear if anyone has had a similar struggle with this and how you ended up setting your prices? If you haven’t had issues, how did you determine pricing and do you get consistent clientele?

Sports Academy Start Up

I’m very interested in starting a sports academy. A place that helps kids develop skills to be successful in games. It would also help those kids afraid/self conscious about joining sport teams to develop skills and confidence to play. Another class would be for kids that are exceeding at sports to come and train and become even better at that sport(s). I also envision high school athletes coming and having a “competition” class that has kids doing various fun conditioning competitions.

I have more expansion ideas IF this took off, but I’m wondering if anyone has ever worked or tried running something like this? What issues did you encounter? What successes did you have?

The biggest thing I’m facing is I want to do this, but I want to devote all my time to this business to make it successful. I know without having run any sessions that’s a huge leap of faith, but I’m also curious for you all that have started businesses- when did you take the leap of faith into running your own business?
