Built a free app to stop losing movie recommendations in your DMs

Fellow Nepalis in tech — built something I actually needed.

My friends and I are always recommending movies and shows over WhatsApp but they always get buried in the chat and forgotten. So I built Pikt.

It's a free web app where friends send you picks directly with a personal note, where to watch it, and a "hot take" that stays locked until you've actually watched it then reveals after. Everything sits in one clean inbox, nothing gets lost in the noise.

B.Sc. Computing grad who went into marketing, came back around to building something. Would love feedback from the tech community here 🙏

Built a app to stop losing movie recommendations in your DMs, made by a Nepali

Dai/Didi & Bhai/Baini haru, you know how it is, someone sends you a movie to watch over WhatsApp or Instagram and it just disappears in the chat forever.

I got tired of it and built Pikt. It's a free app where friends send you picks directly with a personal note and where to watch it. Everything sits in one clean inbox, nothing gets lost. There's also a fun "hot take" feature where you write your honest opinion before they watch and it reveals after, makes talking about it afterwards way more fun.

No big team, no funding. Just a guy with a problem, and figured out how to build a solution.

Would love to see some Nepali users on there 🙏

Just launched Pikt on Product Hunt today. Would love your support!

Pikt is a free app that solves something simple: movie and TV recommendations getting buried in your DMs and never watched.

You send a pick to a friend with a personal note and where to watch it. It sits in their inbox until they watch it. There's also a "hot take" feature, lock in your honest opinion before they watch, it reveals after. Makes the post-watch conversation so much better.

Built this without a dev team. B.Sc. Computing grad, went into marketing, had a problem and used AI tools to build the solution.

Would genuinely love feedback from the community 🙏

Built a spoiler-safe way to send movie recommendations to friends - your hot take only unlocks after they watch

The problem: I'd recommend something to a friend and either hold back my real opinion to avoid spoiling it, or accidentally say too much.

So I built Pikt. You search any movie, send it to a friend with a note, write your unfiltered take and they can't see it until they've actually watched it. Unlocks automatically when they mark it watched.

It also pulls streaming availability so they know where to watch it.

Still pretty early but would love to hear if this solves something people here actually run into - usepikt.com
