Has anyone used a Nepali USD/dollar card for iCloud+ payments?

I’m planning to get a Nepali USD/dollar card mainly to pay for an iCloud+ subscription.

Has anyone here successfully purchased iCloud+ using a Nepali dollar card?

If yes:

  • Which bank’s dollar card are you using?
  • Does the bank/card matter for iCloud payments?
  • Do all Nepali dollar cards work with Apple/iCloud, or only cards from certain banks?
  • Are there any issues with recurring iCloud+ payments?

I need to get a dollar card anyway, so I’d prefer to get one from a bank that definitely supports iCloud payments rather than getting a card and finding out later that it doesn’t work.

For now, my main use for the dollar card will be iCloud+, so any firsthand experience would be really helpful. Thanks!

I focused on full-stack development until my 3rd year — now I want to move seriously into ML/research. What should I learn next?

Hi everyone,

I’ve mainly been focused on full-stack development throughout the first few years of my degree. Now that I’m in my 3rd year, I’ve started thinking more seriously about my long-term direction, and I’m becoming much more interested in machine learning and research.

My goal isn’t just to learn how to use ML libraries. I’d eventually like to understand the fundamentals well enough to read research papers, do my own research, and potentially pursue a research-focused master’s/PhD.

Right now, I’m planning to study these three DeepLearning.AI programs:

  1. Mathematics for Machine Learning and Data Science
  2. Machine Learning Specialization
  3. Deep Learning Specialization

The math specialization covers linear algebra, calculus, probability, and statistics, while the ML specialization focuses on foundational ML algorithms and practical implementation.

My question is:

Is this a good learning path if my long-term goal is ML research?

What would you recommend I add or change?

For example:

  • Should I study more mathematics beyond these courses?
  • Should I learn statistics more deeply?
  • Should I learn PyTorch, NumPy, etc. separately?
  • When should I start reading research papers?
  • Should I work on Kaggle/projects before trying research?
  • Are there any textbooks or university courses (Stanford/MIT/etc.) that you would strongly recommend?
  • Should I specialize in an area such as NLP, computer vision, or something else?

I’d really appreciate advice from people who have gone through a similar transition from software/full-stack development → machine learning → research.

Thanks!

ghus - Put it on the record.

Hi guys, haha ,maile euta side project banaako - "ghus"
Idea chai simple ho: euta platform jaha user le kunai pani ghus/corruption sambandhi case anonymously report garna saknu parxa - no account, no login, nothing traceable back to you. Sabailai thaha nai cha ki corruption huncha, tara kohi lekhera rakhdaina, so I thought why not just try building something for it.
Ani honestly bhanda, ma kunai authority ko manche hoina, so I genuinely can't verify whether the reported cases are real or fake — it's purely crowdsourced. Yo idea naya pani hoina - India ma euta student le similar type ko platform (bribes.fyi) pahile nai banaisakeko raixa, tyo dekhera "why not try the same thing for Nepal" bhanera banako ho, kunai original genius idea hoina haha.
Just a free-time side project ho so bugs will definitely be there.
Link's below — check it, roast it, break it, criticize it, all welcome. Feedback aayo vane try garchu improve garna.

myWorldlink hotspot not popping up in public areas

Has anyone else noticed the WorldLink hotspot not showing up in public areas? Mine hasn’t been appearing for the past couple of days. Is anyone else having the same issue?

Edit: I asked customer support and this is what they said

“The myWorldLink SSID for Express Wi-Fi has been temporarily turned off nationwide as per the directive from NTA. However, we are currently working on alternative methods to connect our valued customers to the Express Wi-Fi network and ensure continuity of service. Further communication regarding the alternative arrangement will be provided once the solution is finalized.”

Hello Tech Nepal community,

We are currently looking for Intern, Junior, Mid and Senior mobile developers for our company.

Losing hopes form IT industry.

Atti dherai crowded vaisako. Junior positions ko lagi ni seniors jatiko knowledge chaine vaisakyo. Ramro paying 1 positions ko lagi 300 jana sanga fight garna parxa. College sakyo savings xaina. job ko lagi ustai hustle. Connection hune haru ta janxan, but it field ma chinjan navako haru interview didai ma life sakinxa jasto xa. Aru kei aaudaina feri, how am i gonna survive. If i could reverse time i would start coding from my high school with lesser AI and lesser competition with great salary. Yeah i am spitting bullshit but thinking deep down to this time i dont know what to do.

why nepal's tech startups are so fucked up?

being a tech startup why everyone wants to be label themselves as "CEO" in tech industry? like micro managing people, strict 9-5 time? no work flexibility since people can do their assigned tasks even though they're not present in the office? why everyone is chasing the CEO, Co founder titles only rather than delivering actual value?

I built a full-stack business web app as a solo developer and I'm looking for feedback

I recently built a complete web application for a restaurant as a way to explore what a modern business platform could look like.

The current demo is restaurant-focused, but the underlying idea isn't limited to restaurants. I can build and customize applications around the actual requirements of a business. whether that's ordering, bookings, dashboards, customer management, internal tools or something completely different.

For this demo, the customer side includes:

  • Online menu and product browsing
  • Cart and checkout
  • Order tracking
  • Table reservations
  • Order & reservation history
  • Customer authentication

There's also a separate management side for things like menu, orders, reservations and business activity.

Live demo: copperfig.productademo.com

I'm mainly interested in getting feedback on the product, UX and overall idea. If you're building a business and need a custom web application, feel free to DM me I will revert back to you.

My stack: JavaScript / TypeScript, React, Next.js, Node.js, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc.

I'm a solo developer, so I can also build something from the ground up based on the specific workflow and requirements rather than forcing a business into a fixed template.

How do hiring in nepali tech market really work? Do company mass hire freshers at a certain specific season? I heard from someone big techs in Nepal take freshers in once a year is it still valid?

So do tech companies really take freshers with good skills through interviews and technical rounds or is it mostly network and do company also look for dsa skills? Should I also start leetcoding or focus more on projects? Any tips

What small daily problem in Nepal do you wish someone would solve?

I’m conducting a short, anonymous survey to understand the everyday problems people in Nepal actually face. It takes 3–4 minutes.
Your honest experience would be very helpful: here

I think I accidentally started a tradition 😂

I made a small website for Nepali songs:

🚌 Driver Dai ko Playlist ( https://driverdaikoplaylist.vercel.app) - for bus-ride vibes
🌸 Teejaayo (https://teejaayo.vercel.app) - for Teej songs

Both are just fun side projects I made because apparently making another playlist website is easier than getting a girlfriend 😂
