Be aware buying laptop cuz I got refurb instead of new.(update)

A little background:

I recently bought a new laptop (lenovo LOQ) and got refurbished (basically got scammed). I posted it here yesterday with the shop's name.

Following it I went to the shop(putali sadak) to discuss the matter today and they refunded me asap without much debate. They got so scared of the legal prosecution.(I didn't do it as the issue was solved silently and their scared ass got another chance).

And in the afternoon, the shop guy begged to remove the reddit post so I did.(sorry i shouldn't have)

But I want you guys to check the laptop very perfectly regardless of the shop you buy.The seller's charismatic behaviour may mislead you if you're not aware.

- check the serial number and model number very carefully and tally it.

-check it on the website.

- inspect your laptop carefully.

And the refurbished being sold as new looks very identical ditto so verify it.

Usually they offer you a competitively lower price for the refurbished one.

The whole market is a scam. There is a network of scammers selling refurbished as per importer who himself sells refurbished. After the COVID, the laptop market is cooked asf. Most of the laptops are refurbished and we don't even check after we buy them. Idk anything will happen through police report too.(only retailers might be penalised). Basically many do this kind of thing. A laptop shop showed me a side to side comparison of refurbished and new which look the same.Idk which one he gave me😭🥀

Choose wisely, inspect deeply.

Thankyou

I was sold refurbished laptop saying it's new by computer durbar?

So the context is I bought a Lenovo LOQ laptop almost 2.5 weeks ago. (Specs are above).

Obviously I was told it was a new one.

And of course I checked some basic things. But later when I started searching about the laptop on Lenovo's website and other sources,I knew that it was refurbished.

I am not that type of tech guy or don't have plenty of knowledge neither most of the people who buy laptops has. They don't sit comparing the Model number and checking it on the website. So I guess I was scammed.

**Also the model number in the sticker ( which was on the box) doesn't match the model number on the sticker that's on the back of the laptop which again doesn't match the model number listed on the website. (It's different from one letter each).

And shockingly one laptop shop told me the box or the sticker itself is totally fake.**

There may be my mistake too for not rechecking the laptop early but yeah.

I'll visit the shop tomorrow for this issue.I think this shop is kind of a scam.

I'll correct myself if I'm wrong

I don't understand second merit list?

Above is the first and second merit list of BMC for comparison.

Guys, I don't think the second merit list and the rules related to it are logical. Or is this actually the college's fault? I reviewed the second admission list of BMC and found a few things that, from my perspective, don't seem right.

#1. Shouldn't the second merit list start after the last rank included in the first merit list?

My reasoning is that students with ranks (higher than the last rank included in the first merit list) have already been placed in the first merit list — either in that college or in another college that was higher in their priority order.

So, why should these students be considered again for the second merit list when they have already been placed in the first list?

#2. Should a student be able to appear in the second merit list of a college that is lower in their priority order(supporting point #1.)?

For example, if a student has already been placed in a college that was their *3rd priority*, shouldn't that student be excluded from the second merit list of a college that was their *4th priority*?

In my opinion, once a student has been allocated a college that is higher in their priority order, they shouldn't be able to take a place in a lower-priority college through the second merit list.

#3. Once a student has already been included in the first merit list of a college, shouldn't they be excluded from the second merit list of that same college?

I think this is the most serious issue among the three.

What do you guys think about this?

I'd really appreciate your opinions. Is this something decided by the individual colleges, or is this actually a system/rule approved by IoST-TU?

Please share your thoughts. I'm genuinely trying to understand whether this is how the second merit list is supposed to work.

Is it better to leave ASCOL for PATAN?

guys I applied for the second list in both of the colleges and my rank is around 505.

According to my calculations and predictions, I may get into the second list of ASCOL but not PATAN. PATAN is near to me and it's my 1st priority.

If I get ascol and not patan in the second list, is it smart enough to leave ascol and wait for patan 3rd list?!

can you guys please suggest me according to your predictions? will I get into Patan?

NEED SUGGESTIONS!!!

😭BMC rules says this?

So I recently read this rule page of BMC and found out that It says, after admission, students are not allowed to ask for a "sthantaran" or move to the next campus inside the valley. 😭😭

Does that mean If my name comes in the 2nd merit list of the next college, cant I switch there? 🫡🔥

What is the probability that I get Patan and Ascol

my priority list was

1.Patan

2.Ascol

3.BMC

At the 1st merit list, I got into BMC. Now I am going to admit there.

So what is the chance that I get ASCOL- whose cutoff rank for First merit list is ~411 and that of Patan is ~354.

There is a 10% admission fee deduction on switching colleges according to the officer of BMC.

So should I not admit and wait for ascol and patan or enroll there and wait for them?

Will I get any of the gov colleges or not for ~500 rank? Will it be worth waiting for further merit lists?

So the thing is I gave the CSIT entrance examination without reading and got a rank of ~500. Now I am trying to get into a government college. Patan is the best in terms of distance. And I don't think I'll get patan or ascol that easily. Here are some of the qn.

  1. Will I get patan or ascol or not? If yes which merit list should I expect to get into?

  2. I can get into BMC easily but that is too far for me. If I get into BMC in the first merit list should I be admitted there or not?

  3. If I got admitted in BMC and applied for patan and ASCOL in the later list, can I transfer there or not? And if I decide to withdraw the admission, will I get a refund or not? If yes what percentage?

Answering these qn would be a big help to decide what I do next so please answer genuinely.

Also If I can't get into government which college is best for csit in terms of ECA, attendance flexibility and all. Thankyou.

Entrance prep(am I late?)

dear seniors and friends who've started preparation, I've not joined any classes and started preparing till now 😭. I don't know what I should do. Have maximum started preparing or not?

For students taking classes, how is it in the classes, how is preparation going on till now? Is it worth joining or not?

I was good at my +2, should I start preparing myself by buying books (if yes which book, those of institute or other?)

or should I join the institute asap? I need help.

PS: ive all the books of 11th too

(I want to give entrance exams engineering, CSIT and CS (KU))

TU,KU and bout Prep

please help me choose TU CSIT or KU CS.

The course is almost the same.

I live inside ktm and as per suggestions KU is said to be better for structured courses, more interactions, student communities .etc(dont tu colleges have more of those?) .I also went to one *institute* where he said it's almost the same but sometimes KU may be favoured for jobs. So I am confused about that.

Also how should I prepare. Buying books and self study, mock tests or should I join institute

PS: (today, I visited some and how they council is questionable. They will not guide you properly until they are sure that you are joining their classes.)

CSIT or BCE

I am confused between these two. I am interested in coding and software development. Also I may need good free time for skill development, internship, freelancing and stuff.

I also have heard that BCE gives a title and helps land high tier gov jobs (not interested).

The main thing is that I am confused whether BCE or CSIT fits my specifications(specially free time) and i would like to hear some differences between these two.

Also guide me if I should join a good institute for my entrance prep (most prob CSIT) or studying staying home is fine for a good rank ?

*I was good at my studies in +2*
