what shall i go for

So, I've always had an interest in Mechanical Engineering. I was planning to go abroad and study Mechanical Engineering there, but my visa got rejected. I also didn't really care much about the IOE entrance exam, so I just gave it casually.

Now, I've already had a 1-year gap, so I've decided that I'll study in Nepal and won't apply abroad again.

Looking at my rank, which is around 4k, it seems like the only place where I can study Mechanical Engineering is ERC. But I've seen a lot of people on Reddit saying that the studies at ERC aren't that good and that the labs aren't proper either.

I'm from the Valley, so going that far away to study for four years would also be difficult for me.

So, what should I do now? Would it be better to study Civil Engineering at a private college here in Kathmandu, or should I go for Electronics? Which one would be better?

How do people coming to college from far (like 10-12 km) manage time?

I live like 10.8 km away from college i am about to join and i am very confuse on how to manage time and study. I haven't learned bike/scooter cause i dont think my parents can afford it (already spending like 6 lakh for 4 year). So i want to know if anyone else have similar problem if yes how are you managing it?

Please please please nuhaune garam

please tell me honestly. how often do you guys shower?

I mean how can a person stink so fucking much. I feel like sticking pudina ko paat up my nose.

I mean you don't have to smell all fresh, minty or anything. Just don't smell bad so much that it's hard for other person to be near you. kasto atti ganaune k. jhan summer ma ta it's hell. specially boys.

they stink like they haven't washed themselves in months.

just take a shower before coming to class. and do it daily. i don't even care if you go to bed dirty. just don't stink infront of me.

even if you are too lazy it just takes 2 minutes. you just wash your body with water. use the soap in areas where you sweat the most and finished. how hard is it?

and if possible use deodorant if not just use fitkiri in your underarms.

i wish they had some sort of smell detector in front of gate. dherai ganayeko manche lai jana nadine ani bathroom ma pathaune.

14 backlogs in 5h semester of pokhara univeristy engineering

Actually, i suffer from clinical anxiety disorder since 1st semester. Its due long term chronic stress and extreme overthinking on minor things. Now my mental health is somehow better. But, now i think its too late to do anything. In my class, i stood at last position in every fields like in study, sports, communication. I have nothing. I literally think i dont deserve to be alive, too....I have no skills...NO studies, nothing..And i Don't want to study too...May be i am the worst. I live in my parents home though i feel super lonely, depressed. My parents 24 hours say to study...But i cant..SO i cut my hand with blade to touch with reality.

No ICCR. No COMPEX. Still Want India? Here’s an Alternative. 🇮🇳

For Nepali students planning to study Engineering, IT, CS, or related fields in India:

COMPEX is unlikely to open for this year, while ICCR has already closed. But there are still some available seats in private universities offering merit-based scholarships and fee concessions.

I have access to some of these opportunities and can help interested students get admission at an effective/discounted rate, depending on their academic profile and the available seats.

If you're interested, DM me or drop your Reddit ID/contact below, and I'll get back to you with the available options.

I'll provide details about the university, course, scholarship/fee structure, and eligibility before you make any decision.

Success stories? Need something to read and feel motivated that people managed to pass Engineering after mountain of backlogs

Backlogs dherai bhayo. Can someone share their own or story of someone they knew how they overcame mountain of backlogs in a single cycle and eventually graduating? I'm crumbling seemingly how I'm never graduating. Dropping out isn't an option but graduating feels tough too. Aaba ta excluding this Dashain cycle, jamma 3 attempts baki cha. What If I don't graduate bhanera daar lagna thalyo!

Architecture vanera confuse na hauuu just read thissss

If you're filling your IOE Architecture priority form, read this before you regret or be proud after 5 years.

(EDIT: One who is confused can cmt here)

Nobody warns you because by the time they realize it, they're already too deep.

When I filled my priority form, I thought the entrance exam was the hardest part. It wasn't. The real commitment begins after your name appears on the merit list.

5 years. 10 semesters. Around NPR 7 lakh in total IOE fee alone for many Full Fee students which isn't properly mention on fee structure or it's more like for B.E fee structure only. And admission fee is 2.18 lakh you can check properly in yt videos also.

And that's before the money starts disappearing on A1 prints, foam boards, MDF, acrylic sheets, model materials, site visits, hard and eventually a laptop that can survive AutoCAD, Revit, and rendering software. But our course is more paper or traditional based & almost 95% students can't compete with international student.

Do the math. That's not a course. That's a financial commitment.

Then comes studio.

You'll spend six hours fixing a drawing just to hear, "Start again."

You'll build a model until 3 AM.

You'll watch weeks of work get torn apart in a 10 min jury.

Not because your effort wasn't real.

Because that's how studio works.

Now ask the question nobody asks during admission.

What happens after graduation?

Nepal has expanded architecture education across multiple colleges. Every year, more graduates enter the market, but good jobs don't grow at the same speed. Many fresh architects still begin around NPR 20,000–35,000 per month, depending on their firm and skills & again I need to work for more 5 6 years to fit the market but international student are already ready for market after their college.

And don't hide behind campus names.

KU has brilliant students.

Thapathali has brilliant students.

Other colleges have brilliant students too.

Look at Asian Paints Kaleidoscope winners and finalists have come from different campuses. Employers don't frame your admission rank on their office wall. They ask for your portfolio.

So before you lock your priority form, calculate the deal honestly.

5 years.

Around 7 lakh in IOE campus fees.

More on studio expenses.

100 of sleepless nights.

No guaranteed high-paying job.

If you still choose Architecture after knowing all that, you're choosing the profession YOU are best fit for it.

If you didn't know any of this before today

that's exactly the problem( I can conform you also that may be you are choosing ARCHITECTURE because you are good at painting and sketching & are from physical group)

But Architecture is not just about art only its one pillar of it but mathematics is also needed & geometry knowledge also

Every architecture padhey vai baini haru confuse xan but now I'm fkdup why top student aren't joining architecture now. In my time also their is good competition not now why it's competition is being low quality.

I'm shocked by this part most
