Spicy take : Prime messi was a way better player than Prime Cristiano Ronaldo by eye test , the only thing that made this is a rivalry is their stats at their peak.

by eye test messi was so much better and it's not particularly close.

also by stats I mean only goals , cause in rest again messi clears.

Messi overall Influence on the game was ahead of Ronaldo And If you really watched matches between 2009 to 2022 you would know that in terms of eye it was never close , like not even remotely close.

for example I want you guys to watch Ronaldo famous calma calma game during his prime 2011-12 , you would get your answer who had more influence in overall game . You would be shocked to know that cr7 until that goal in that game was basically a passenger and I have watched that full game but of course that game cause of a goal is said to be his best but in actual he dd nothing in that game until that late goal.

meanwhile if you watch that game for first 15 mins messi already looked much more impressive than ronaldo did by far and it was like this their overall career , messi was a much more impressive player by all aspects.

Spicy take: The 2010s were the most exciting era of football. Messi, Neymar, Robben, Hazard and so many others made it one of the best decades ever for watching individual talent.

Edit : I missed taking Ronaldo name so ya sorry for that.

I think 2000s and 1990s have also a strong claim but 2010s was amazing all round.

Top 5 Greatest Primes in Football History

Not their whole careers , just the period where they were at their absolute best.

  1. Messi — 2009–15 Honestly, I don't know if we've ever seen a higher level. Messi wasn't just scoring ridiculous numbers , he was dribbling past entire defenses, creating chances, controlling games and making everything look effortless. The scary part is that this wasn't just one amazing season. He stayed at an absurd level for years. For me, the greatest prime ever and it's not particularly close.
  2. Maradona — 1984–87 Took Napoli from nowhere to genuine contenders and then became the defining player of the 1986 World Cup. At his peak, he could completely take over a game by himself.
  3. Cristiano Ronaldo — 2011–18 Insane goalscorer , His Champions League goal scoring is amazing
  4. Pelé — 1958–65 One of the most complete players ever. Incredible goalscoring, athleticism, technique and creativity, while also being a serial winner. Three World Cups during this period is insane, and he was still one of the most dangerous players on the pitch even when he wasn't scoring.
  5. R9 — 1996–2002 At his absolute best, R9 was genuinely terrifying to defend. He had the acceleration to blow past defenders, the dribbling to beat them one-on-one and the finishing to punish you immediately. For me, he's probably the most naturally gifted pure striker I've ever seen.

I have made this list based on their ability in their prime.

Spicy take : Ashley Cole was a slightly better left back than Paolo Maldini .

please remember this sub if for spicy takes so don't start throwing insults.

around early 2000s to early 2010s...for well over a decade , ashley Cole was the best LB in the world by a miles and at that time it was not even considered a debate whether he is the best or not cause he was so good there was no point of it.

maldini in 80s and 90s played as a LB his whole prime but I would say Ashley Cole was slightly more balanced fullback than maldini .

Yamal might actually be underrated because the way People talk about him here would make you think he's a bum. Anyone who genuinely watches him knows his influence goes way beyond G/A.

Even his stats are ridiculous for an 19-year-old, but somehow people will still find a way to tell you he's overrated or that he only gets attention because of the hype.

He literally dictates games from the wing and regularly has 2-3 players drawn towards him, which creates so much space for the other Spanish players. You could see it even when he wasn't having his best game at the World Cup — his presence alone was changing how teams defended Spain.

Anyone who actually watches his games knows how good Yamal is. You don't need to rely on G/A to see his influence. The way he carries the ball, creates advantages, attracts defenders and constantly gives his team an extra man in dangerous areas is what makes him special.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia Is a better player and winger than Michael olise.

9/10 times, I would take Kvara over him.

Olise is great domestically, but in the biggest games, he’s not a player I’d want in my team. Kvara is so elite in big games that it’s actually crazy. He might be one of the most inevitable players in big games over the last few years.

He’s almost the same age as Olise and has a better résumé, while also being far more proven in big games.

I don’t think Olise deserves all this PR or to be called the best winger in the world over Kvara. He’s not even better than Yamal lmao.

My winger rankings:

  1. Kvara
  2. Yamal
  3. Olise
  4. Vini Jr.

Jamal Musiala is overrated compared to the reputation he has as of now , A great player but he has failed to leave his mark on biggest of games.

now I don't really know this sub is about spicy takes , but people would insult you in every single take which is reasonable for being spicy.

i think Musiala is overrated and I don't think I am being delusional or hateful here .

he still hasn't shown that he can be a star man of his team and be the star in big games.

Barcelona’s 2009 UCL title is one of the most tainted wins in Champions League history. The refereeing in that run was ridiculous.

Yes, they were an insane team and probably the best side in Europe that season, I'm not denying that. But some of the decisions they got in that campaign were ridiculous, especially when you consider how much was at stake.

And no, I'm not saying “Barca paid the refs” because obviously nobody can prove that. I'm saying they got some massive officiating help at crucial moments and people are way too quick to pretend it didn't matter.

You can think that Barca deserved to be in the final and still think that title was heavily helped by the refs. Both things can be true.

still that Barcelona vs Chelsea tie was the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen in terms of favouring a team by the ref.

“Paul Scholes was great, but I think his reputation has gone way beyond what he actually was.” ( I watched him since 2001 )

Paul Scholes was a great player, but I think his reputation has gone way beyond what he actually was. I’ve been watching him since 2001 and I honestly don’t remember people talking about him the way they do now.

He was an excellent passer, technically very clean and brilliant at controlling the rhythm of a game. His ability to find a switch or play a first-time pass into the right area was ridiculous, and as he got older he adapted his game really well.

But I think the modern version of Scholes people talk about is a bit different from the player I remember watching. He wasn't some complete midfielder who could dominate every part of the game. He wasn't a great ball carrier, he wasn't particularly strong defensively and he wasn't someone who consistently took over matches through individual brilliance. A lot of what made him so good was his decision-making and how well he fitted into those United sides.

And that's not a criticism. Being elite at controlling a game without needing to constantly force it is a massive quality. I just don't understand how we've gone from that to people putting him alongside the very best midfielders in football history as if it's obvious.

For me, Scholes was an outstanding Premier League midfielder and an important part of one of the greatest teams of the era. That's already a huge legacy. I just don't think he needs to be turned into something he wasn't to appreciate how good he actually was.

Top 5 greatest full back on quality rather than how many trophies they have won which is an incorrect way to judge a player. ( here is the correct list Only post 2000)

  1. Cafu - for his international team Brazil , Cafu was like a wall and showed up every-time and so did for his club and he has it all longevity , cafu had one of the most restless attacking energy and he was so pacey , elite in defending , massive in overlapping runs.
  2. Dani alves - cmon do I need to even tell? arguably the greatest attacking full back of all time , was more than decent defensively and probably the most complete full back if you see the whole package.
  3. lahm - you can never go wrong with lahm either while attacking or defending.
  4. Ashley Cole - I seriously think people underrate him a bit , he was so good that he gave messi and ronaldo problems. The best defensive full back in this list only behind maldini.
  5. Zanetti - for reference watch 2007 to 2010 zanetti.

HM - marcelo, carvajal , Evra , roberto Carlos .

edit : I have removed maldini after some unwanted backlash ( mistakes on my part too)
