Henry’s story about New York and his daughter makes his Red Bulls time feel deeper than people remember

In his interview, Henry talks about playing for New York Red Bulls and the moment with his daughter where he realised his body just wasn’t responding anymore.

He said his daughter asked to play tag and his body couldn't move.

It reframes his MLS spell a bit, because it wasn’t just a retirement league phase. It was clearly a stage where he was becoming aware that his playing career was coming to an end.

Do Red Bulls fans look back at his time there more emotionally now, knowing what he was going through off the pitch and even on it?

Southampton being expelled from the Play-off Final isn't "harsh"—it’s exactly what those cheats deserved.

The EFL actually did it. They officially threw Southampton out of the Championship Play-off Final and reinstated Middlesbrough after the Saints admitted to illegally spying on Boro's training sessions. To cheat your way to Wembley and get caught by drones is generational stupidity. Hull vs. Middlesbrough is the final we deserve. Southampton should be docked 20 points next season as well to make an example out of this modern-day fraud.

Harry Kane could have been on the same level as Messi

Harry Kane is arguably the greatest English footballer of all time, and his game extends far beyond the penalty box.

Unlike most traditional strikers, Kane possesses the versatility to drop deep, link play, and operate as a creative force in attacking midfield, making him one of the most complete forwards the game has ever seen.

It is this rare combination of goalscoring instinct and playmaking ability that fuels the argument: had Kane been developed at an elite club like Bayern Munich from a young age, he could have rivalled Lionel Messi in both goals and creative output.

His time at Bayern Munich has already offered a glimpse of what was possible, as he surpassed Lewandowski's record for the most goals scored in a single Bundesliga season across all competitions, a staggering achievement that firmly underlines his world-class quality.

Unfortunately, Kane spent the prime years of his career at Tottenham Hotspur, a club that, despite his heroic efforts, never provided him with the elite infrastructure, consistency, or winning culture necessary to truly unlock his potential. Had he been immersed in a winning environment from the start, supported by top-tier coaching and world-class teammates, the gap between Kane and Messi in terms of overall contribution and legacy could have been considerably smaller.

The PL vs English 1st division divide is so stupid

I find all the arguments so stupid. Like oh because of TV ads all post 92’ count. But not you Leeds JUST the season before. What magically happened in the end mths of 91/92 into 92/93?

Also don’t we apply the logic to the UCL….?

But mostly even on Reddit I saw a thread of who’s the biggest clubs in England and someone said Man Utd by far because of 20 times………. It’s 13. Be consistent. Get it right. If you’re gonna say Liverpool got 2 say united got 13. Not 20. Like wow I read that and think it’s so stupid to divide but not for united. All theirs count supposedly.

Crystal Palace is genuinely the most dangerous team in the league right now, and the top three are terrified.

Look at the form guide. Palace just took a point off Brentford in a chaotic 2-2 draw over the weekend, and they drew with Everton right before that. They have absolutely nothing to lose, zero pressure, and an attacking transition that thrives on destabilizing top-heavy teams. With Arsenal having to face them on the final day this Sunday to secure their fate, Palace is perfectly positioned to pull off the ultimate, legacy-ruining spoiler.

Rooney at 14 already around Everton seniors… how did this not break modern development rules?

Came across an old Kevin Campbell story about Rooney being involved around Everton’s first team at just 14.

It’s almost unthinkable compared to modern academy systems, especially with how strict safeguarding rules and structured development pathways are now.

It makes you wonder whether early exposure to senior environments like that actually helped accelerate players back then, or whether it would just be seen as too risky in today’s game.

Do you think any player at 14, could join the premier league in today's day and age and dominate, the way Rooney did for Everton?

If Mikel Arteta wins the Premier League on Sunday playing this "Mourinho-Lite" style, football is officially dead.

Arsenal fans are already planning the parade for May 24th, but can we talk about how unwatchable this team has become? This isn't the "beautiful game" Wenger built; it's a cold, cynical, set-piece simulator. They score a header from a corner in the 14th minute and then play a low block that would make 2010 Inter Milan look like prime Barcelona. If this "tactical boredom" beats Pep Guardiola's Manchester City to the title, the entire league is going to copy it. We are entering a dark age of negative football.

Manchester United scraping a 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest proves Michael Carrick is just a lucky Erik ten Hag.

Old Trafford was a circus today. Winning 3-2 against a Forest side fighting for survival isn't "tactical dominance"- it’s defensive anarchy. United's backline looked entirely disjointed, and if it wasn't for sheer individual brilliance in the final third, Forest walks away with all three points. Carrick gets a pass from the media because of his "United DNA," but if they play this exact open-midfield style next season, they’ll be lucky to stay in the top six.

Ronaldo managing to get to the Arab Champions League 2 final is more impressive than Messi winning the MLS

Think about it in the Arab Champions League 2 it is all the best team in the whole of Asia playing against you and Ronaldo had to once again carry hes team to even get there while Messi is playing with the most valuable team in the MLS and can barely even win a farmers league like that and in the MLS you only play against teams from the US which has not good teams. Ronaldo deserved the win today but sadly hes team wasnt up to the task so he didnt win but it was close but Al Nassr probably need to make some changes to their team next season so they can better compete in these tournaments

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is better left winger that Vinicius Jr.

Kvara is a more technical, and more fun player to watch that Vini. If Vinicius wasn't in real Madrid there wouldn't be any hype behind that guy. If Kvara was in the same position (club) as vini he would be more appreciated and would have helped rma much more.

Owen’s take on modern football: do you agree or is this just old-school bias?

Saw this clip of Michael Owen talking about how modern football is more about athleticism, pressing and systems than pure technical ability.

He argues that in today’s game, players don’t necessarily need elite skill anymore if they can run, press and fit the system.

Made me think about how Real Madrid always seems to balance both, technical brilliance + physical intensity at the top level but is he right?

Genuinely curious what people think on this one.

VAR should have been added to football much faster

Referees make a lot of mistakes and often those mistakes go against certain teams and in favor of other teams regularly but if there was VAR since the 2000s then for example Barcelona would not have won more than 1 UCL and Chelasea would win in 2009 since Barca would have gotten red cards and this would be much better for football in general because in modern football the referees still make mistakes that favor certain clubs so now there is an objective check where you cant cheat because they see everything. A lot of results could be avoided and football history would change for the better and the correct clubs like Manchester United Chelsea and Real Madrid would have won more UCL but Barcelona eould lose some so of course many Barca fans dont want to lose there UCL but they didnt deserve to win them so it would be good if they take those away now that we know what happened.

Zlatan at Barca under Guardiola… one of those rare elite squad clashes that happened in a UCL-winning era

What makes this interesting is it wasn’t a struggling team or chaotic dressing room situation.

It was peak Barcelona, competing at the highest level in the Champions League, yet still having internal tension over roles and system fit.

Zlatan later talked about questioning the setup and how things shifted after that period, which makes it feel like a clash between individual identity and Pep’s structure.

Do you think elite teams today manage that kind of situation better, or is it still the same issue at the top level & if Zlatan stayed at Barca, like Thierry did, when he was moved to the wing, would he have won his only UCL?

If Real Madrid actually sells Jude Bellingham to Liverpool for £87m, the "Galactico" era is officially dead.

The rumors today are wild. Fichajes reporting that Madrid wants to sell Bellingham to fund a "squad rebuild"? After two seasons? This proves that the Mbappé signing broke the wage structure and the chemistry at the Bernabéu. If Liverpool gets Jude for anything under £100m while Manchester United is stuck chasing Tchouaméni, the balance of power in Europe shifts back to England overnight. Madrid is panicking.

Florentino Pérez saying "You’d need to shoot me to remove me" is the most Bond-villain move in Real Madrid history

Pérez called for elections today (May 14) and basically admitted he’s hiring Mourinho the second he’s re-elected. We are watching a club legend like Arbeloa be treated like a seat-warmer for a guy who hasn't won a major league title in a decade. Madrid is a mess-locker room fights, zero trophies this year, and now a "buyout deadline" for Jose. If you think Mourinho fixes this "strong ego" squad, you’ve forgotten the 2013 collapse. Madrid isn't "Kings of Europe" anymore; they're a soap opera with a high budget.

If Ronaldo wins the World Cup it won't be only Portugal celebrating but the entire World will celebrate🐐🇵🇹 while Pessi fans cry

The VAR check at the London Stadium was a literal crime against football. Blacklist Chris Kavanagh.

90+5 minutes. Callum Wilson wallops in a screamer for a 1-1 draw. We then sit through a VAR check that felt like it lasted 12 years just for Chris Kavanagh to rule it out for a "foul" on David Raya that wouldn't even be a foul in a library. Arsenal are basically champions now because the refs were too scared to let the "big story" die. If West Ham go down because of that one decision, the PL integrity is officially zero.

When Ronaldo wins the World cup he is the undisputed GOAT

The only thing that Messi fans still have over Ronaldo is the World Cup they act like the debate ended when Messi got his but once Ronaldo wins it and scores 1000 goals he will be the undisputed GOAT:

Most goals in football history, World Cup and EURO, 5 Ballon d'Ors, 4 Golden shoes, dominated 4 leagues, most Champions League goals, most penalty goals, most international goals, the best freekick taker of all time, scored from 40 yards regularily, most goals in a single UCL campaign, forced entire teams to change their playstyle just because of him, when he wins the WC he will have the best trophy cabinet in football history. No other player can match what he has done in football. The GOAT🐐🇵🇹

Football purists are overrated

Like I get wanting to watch good football and skills but I feel like it’s so overstated. People with the stats are G/A merchants and also I find some people choose when to use it.
Recently saw on pitch side podcast that a guy said saka was not good when you look at stats… he himself was a purist enthusiast.
Also some strikers get called out. Why? Aren’t they mainly scoring goals. Or do you want them to be elite dribblers and all other attributes aswell?

Also if you’re so strong about it why don’t you praise higher your taarabts, Ben arfas, bolasie maybe etc. surely those should be higher then. Those players are ballon d’or level by that case too.
