I fell victim.

I fell victim.

Hi all,

This is even embarrassing to write, but thought it would be good to get off my chest. I am really struggling and do not really know how to get over this. It has been about 12 hours since I was sextorted. Backstory is that I am going through a divorce, and even before it had been a while (like 6 months) since I had had sex.

Anyway, I downloaded a couple apps and matched with some people, including a 23 year old Asian woman named Freya on Bumble, who seemed to be real with multiple photos, had answers to prompts, and had a job as a flight attendant. I figured maybe she was looking for some fun in the city on an overnight layover (I live near an airport).

I gave her my Instagram and phone number, and get a text from the infamous +63 Philippines country code, which obviously was another red flag that I ignored because I was so hype in my feelings. We agreed to hop on Facetime, where when she answered, appeared to be the same girl, who was naked. I thought it was then fine and showed her my dick a couple times (never my face and dick at the same time, but still). After about 40 seconds, the call dropped and I get texts with multiple people's Instagram profiles that I follow, they threaten to send everything to them in exchange for money.

Immediately, I panic and talk back and forth like 15 minutes, even screenshotting my bank balance to prove I can pay a smaller amount, but eventually, blocked the number (if I paid they would want more and can send it anyway). I go online to research, etc... I also post a FB/IG story saying do not open any messages from me or about me. 20 minutes later, a different number with +63 country code texts, this time with one of the followers they sent on Instagram showing her FB Messenger profile, with my 40 secondish video sent to her (well, status was sending, no idea if this was real or fake). All the screenshots came from a separate phone. This time, I blocked the number ASAP without responding, and after about 90 minutes since the original call dropped, I deleted my story posts, and paused my FB, IG, Threads, and LinkedIn accounts. My Twitter was already locked on private.

I obviously am freaked out and called my father and told him the truth, he was not upset just tried to console me. I texted two of the guys who the scammers sent me in IG screenshots, and they had not received anything as of a couple hours ago. I also messaged the girl in the second screenshot on FB Messenger (I actually do not even have her as a friend on FB, just IG follower from High School) but so far no reply. I also made a report on the IC3 site or whatever it is called. Should I call my local police (I am in the USA)?

I am hopeful they do not send anything, and so far no one else has contacted me 12 or so hours later. My bank/emails seem fine and not impacted. How have you guys dealt with this? If this was a similar experience to mine, did the scammers end up sending anything?
