Late Diagnosis Tips

Hey guys,

Long story short: I’m in the process of getting clinically assessed for AuDHD + High Cognitive Ability.

I’m 29/F and found out 2 years ago from a traumatic experience and I underwent clinical psychotherapy. In the first session, she flagged neurodivergence but she wanted to wait until I had addressed the symptoms related to the trauma.

My storyline is similar to Good Will Hunting in the sense therapy helped me see who I really was because complex life experiences clouded how I saw myself.

Anyway, I haven’t told anyone in my life yet until my testing has been complete but so far, my clinical assessor is pretty confident I am neurodivergence.

How have others gone about incorporating their ND status into their identity especially for those who thought they were the baseline and assumed everyone saw the world as they did?
