I recently bought this WWIi-era Coast Guard Uniform owned by Alfred Thomas Clodius. Wanting to learn more, I submitted a record request for my first time to the National Archives.

I submitted all the info I could had including his name, DOB, DOD, birthplace, military branch, etc. The Archives responded saying that they couldn't find any records and asked if I had any paperwork with new data to provide them.

This was my first request and I was very hopeful that I would receive something for an individual with a very unique name. Any similar experiences?
