Authentication help: Deutsches Kreuz in Silber – G. Brehmer Markneukirchen – 62.61 g

I would appreciate opinions on this German Cross in Silver, maker-marked G. Brehmer Markneukirchen.
Weight: 62.61 g
Diameter: approx. 63–64 mm
Reverse: 4 rivets, wide pin, G. Brehmer Markneukirchen maker mark.
I have compared it in hand with known reproductions and the weight, construction, rivets and pin setup look correct to me. I would appreciate opinions on authenticity and maker variant.

Identifying ribbons, etc.

Hi! So I’ve been doing some digging into my great-grandfather’s military career. I never got to meet him unfortunately. I know he enlisted when he was 17. He retired in 1971 as a First Sergeant. He was in the Marines. He was in WW2, the Korean War and two tours in Vietnam. I was looking through boxes of his things the other day that my nana has, and I found all of these ribbons. Plus the medals. My nana needs to fix the one that fell, haha. Can anyone help me out please with identifying the ribbons? I can’t really find anything online about him in terms of public records. I did find him on some muster rolls though. I also submitted a request for his full records but I’ve heard it can take a while. 😅 His last name was Hoover. Thank you!

A couple things that were in his obituary: “He was a very personal man and didn't like to have anyone trying to "poke around." Despite his being member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars for many years, documents listing his medals and commendations were not on file. Chet T, PW Commander, said that Hoover might have something to do with its disappearance. "He was commander for a while. He might just have destroyed it. He would have had access to it."”

Another friend who served with him said this as well: “During the battle for Iwo Jima, two flags were raised. Hoover was there for both. On Mount Suribachi he received two wounds. First he was wounded and was being carried off of Suribachi and while still on the stretcher he was wounded a second time.” (He didn’t help raise the flags but he was there and saw both get raised.)

I don’t know if he actually would have been able to destroy any of his records. I don’t know how any of that works or if it would have been a simple thing for him to do. PSA sorry great-grandpa for “poking around” 😂 I wish I could have met you. Anyway, if you read all of this, thank you again!

Can anyone guess that second word?

Right after I posted this I figured out it says "early mid century military trunk "lol I wonder which war it would be. any guesses? It was not $250. That was from someone's past attempt to sell it before donating it to a thrift store. I think it was like 75 or less, can't remember exactly. Does anyone have any guesses of which war could be from? Early mid century would that mean the end of World War II? or Korea?

Pour le Merite - Any chance this is real?

I was offered this PLM to purchase. The price itself seems alright for what it is. Seller claims it is an orignal piece awarded to Cordt von Brandis. Is anybody able to confirm the authenticity of this piece? Hallmarks are Wagner if i am correct and all the stamps seem to look alright so me.

Any help appreciated!

WWII OSS Weapons

I have a small collection of weapons/tools used by the OSS in WWII, including what I believe to be one of only 2 known surviving Little Joe Pedal Crossbows. The OSS experimented with a number of “silent” weapons for dispatching sentries and dogs, which included a number of various crossbow designs. The design pictured here did see brief experimental use in the Pacific, but ultimately it was decided that suppressed handguns were a better choice for quieter weapons. The second photo is of another surviving example in the JFK Special Warfare Museum.

Additionally I have both variants of the T13 “Beano” impact grenade, the original T13 design and the modified T13E1 that added a spoon to the grenade as an extra safety following some mishaps with the original design.

Lastly is an OSS used demolition knife.

Are these real?

Hey everyone. Years ago, a Vietnam vet I knew was downsizing and decided to get rid of a bin that had these in them. My question is, are they real, and if so, what are they worth?

From my research, the black helmet is an M40 beaded helmet with a horrible paint job.

The green helmet I believe us a WW1 M17, though I'm unsure as the chin strap mounts look different than pictures I've seen. The paint job looks better than the black one, but I don't know if that's a later paint job. It looks like the eagle was partially repainted with the head turned the wrong way.

The liners I'm not sure about. Any help would be appreciated.

WW II - Bayonet Identification

Hey guys! I inherited this bayonet and I’m trying to find out more about it. After some initial searching it seems to most likely be a German WWII-era K98 dress bayonet but that’s as much as I can find. Do any of you guys know more about these bayonets and especially what the symbol at the base of the blade means?

WW1 Navy Photography Collection [GRAPHIC WARNING]

First of all, thank you to anyone currently or formerly in the service. Also, there’s only one truly graphic photo but just as a warning. It should appear as the last photo.

My father passed in 2022 and this was something he left behind. I don’t know where he acquired it but from what I can tell, these are original. There are duplicates but they all have that silver mirroring when you shine a light on it. There’s a great deal of depth charge explosions and ships, sailors.. I’m not sure who they are but they could be family. If anyone has info on anything please leave it here! There’s tons more too if anyone wants to see more!

What would be a reasonable price for this W66 stahlhelm that’s been restored and has good quality parts?

Shell is solid with only one small dent and has been refinished with an oil paint that is matched to an original, European made liner, split pins and chinstrap. Weisennberger was apparently a rare manufacturer of stahlhelms as well. Looking for advice on a price to sell.

All of these listed on a site for 40$. I assume there must be fakes but epaulettes are not my field of expertise. Any help?

Are there any real ones? I recognise some as ww2 and some as NVA. Are they worth 40$?

Soviet EM Peak Cap cleaning question.

Hello everyone,

I recently picked this up from a decent grouping of assortments. From the lot, certain items were full of dog hair and cat urine. Unfortunately, this example of one of those items.

I know it might be a common piece. But, it's still a nice complete set with no mothing nor rips, especially with the previous living conditions. Now, I was wondering if there is any solution to clean this piece up and get rid of the dog hair and cat urine, without damaging it. As, I couldn't find any articles on this topic for a couple of hours.

Thank you!
