Penbarras & Moel Famau

Climbed Bwlch Penbarras and Moel Famau this morning. Hell of a climb when put together, half road, half gravel, almost 5km @ 9.4% average. Strava says its my biggest climb.

Top section of Moel Famau v tough due to steeper section with poor surface. Was a bit white knuckle descending it

Technically bikes aren't allowed as it's a public footpath rather than a bridleway/mixed use. But it was very quiet, others have done it in the past and no-one seemed to mind. Wouldn't do it on a weekend or bank holiday though. Probably won't do it again tbh now I've ticked it off

Also did the designated blue bike route nearby. Would recommend. Nice fire roads leading to more MTB style terrain. Super quiet. Will do that again

Did all 3 sides this morning. The climb from Lake Vrynwy is the most scenic and enjoyable. Climb from south to north the steepest and hardest. Thankful for the 40-50 gearing on my gravel bike
