Subaru Issues
Hey mechanics!
I have a 2011 Subaru Outback (2.5L engine) and it stopped running one day. Before it died the back lights would turn on randomly while being parked overnight. They were not on when leaving the car. The car did not die that night, but the day after it was completely dead and no electrical things worked.
We checked and got a new battery due to the old one being dead, corroded and wouldn’t jump. That helped get the car to unlock and lights pop up but when i attempt to start the car it makes a clicking noise with no turnover or sputter. The clicking doesn’t seem to be the starter and is a rapid pulsing clicking sound(shown in video) that seems to be around the engine fuse box.
All the dash lights come on and then turn off when the brake is pressed(shown in video).
It locked the key in the ignition multiple times and to get it out the last time we changed the battery key fob and that helped release the key. When the key was stuck the anti theft light was solid and not blinking as well. However it won’t even allow me to shift into neutral. The gear is locked completely. I am trying to get it into get it into neutral to get it towed to a shop.
Could it be computer and ecu/Anti theft issues? Alternator issues? And is there anyway we could get it into neutral? Thanks!
