So I have a new job. I’ve known since April. Contract through in May. But my new starter details won’t be processed nearer the time of starting which is September (because they are a charity and prioritising June/July/August starters which is what hr told me when I pressed for the reference to be sent). Obviously this is a conditional offer, until they process this even if I have a contract. I have to give 8 weeks notice and I’d like to leave my current FTC 3 weeks prior to commencing my new role. That means I need to put my notice in, in two weeks.

I only to give one reference for my new role, and I am beyond confident that it will be fine. My sickness record is minimal (two days during this contract). My manager is not the one giving my reference, as they were on holiday when the new starter form came through so I asked a band 6 I have a good relationship with. I have attended a work event with my new job, and my new manager was introducing me to everyone excited to have me in September 🫶 can’t wait to start!

I want to tell my current manager because they are expecting me to learn new things etc and quite frankly it’s difficult lying. And everyone keeps asking me to apply for jobs coming out as I am FTC AND I am due to have an appraisal soon too. When should I tell them (my manager)

I understand KURCZACZEK means chicken but I can’t find what the first word means?
