Do accident investigators ever try to get data from passenger cell phones?
Asking this is a very amateur aviation enthusiast, someone who loves to fly, learn about different types of planes and watches every episode of Mayday (aka air disasters).
Seems like in light of the videos from the 787 in Munich and even the Facebook live of that yeti crash there could be valuable evidence on cell phones recovered from the wreckage. I’m sure likely in certain accidents they would be destroyed but I assume in some instances devices could survive. I just haven’t heard of evidence collected from passengers devices on a flight in an investigation before.
Is it just a privacy issue or does this actually happen and I don’t happen to know anything about it?
