My best espresso martini. Where does your inspiration come from?
So, a few years ago at a resort in the Dominican, I fell in love with espresso martinis. I’ve never really liked alcohol as I can’t get past the “burn” flavor, I tend to steer towards drinks that mask the alcohol taste. And as a coffee lover this really sang to me. Anyway, I decided to make my own and actually use the bar we keep stocked for company and entertaining. 1 oz fresh brewed espresso (from a legitimate espresso machine) directly into the martini glass while hot, 1/2oz Mr.Black coffee liqueur (espresso and vodka base as opposed to sweetened coffee and rum based Kaluah) 1/2oz Kettle One vodka shaken with ice. Strain into glass over espresso. Steam and froth about 1 1/2 oz whole whipping cream, enough to get a nice micro foam cap. Poor cream over upside down spoon, just enough to put a thin layer on top of the alcohol/espresso mixture. Spoon out a small cap of foam and apply to center of the glass. Don’t forget the 3 whole coffee beans for health, wealth and happiness. Enjoy! Skoll!
