best time to job hunt is now

I'm sure everyone has heard how you should always be semi- looking for your next job.

I just soft phone screened at a staffing agency and it was horrible!! Now I'm thinking maybe current current isn't so bad.

Stay humble (sad face)

doctor versus director

>I think you are already asking to be permitted late, so you should not try and negotiate any additional discount. Rosie told me she permitted you late entrance because you initially presented yourself as a doctor at this hospital.  The hospital cannot pay for your conference, and I would not try to sneak into the networking event. If you are representing the hospital at the conference, it is a bad look. We will have some other issues to discuss if necessary.

How would you feel about this from your boss?

Bosses paying

I don't have an account. I have never had an expense account for employee engagement activities. It's always been out of my pocket for like birthdays, celebrations, retirement, etc. I was so offended when someone mentioned the company paid for all those donuts that I get for weekends (overtime for most people at specialty).

I definitely enjoyed the treats as student/intern/tech. The ones with spouses were always the most generous - double income life must be good :) but that was retail. Now I'm at hospital.

Surely other new pharmacists feel the pain of student loans? How much is appropriate to be treating the team?

What are the expectations as we rise up in management?

DOP salary

Director salaries have always been a secret to me until now!

> this Mark from HealthCare Support, I just left you a VM. I received your applications for our Pharmacy Director positions. One is in Reno and the other is in Milwaukee

>Pay range for Reno - 160k - 180k, Pay range for Milwaukee - 180K - 190k

>Both come with up to 20% annual bonus

Everyone always says 'so many factors!' look at location, number of direct reports, etc. But now I finally have a marker.

Less than 20% of Americans make more than 100K annually

I want to never lose my empathy but I hate discussions about pay. Pharmacists' pay is stagnant! It's not fair for the effort and emotional toil and toll!

But tuition was outrageous and my loan payback will essentially be forever

Worse value certificate

I have to admit that I have certificates. Some are more valuable than others. Some, I have never used, even to reference in a job interview. I saw in another forum about terrible, predatory programs. Anything in particular come to mind?

I did three seasons of those sketchy online prior authorization contracts where they suddenly, unexpectedly cut you out. One woman in our class had just completed her residency in managed care!? Never got a chance to talk to her but I assume that was at least one year of her life at half-pay doing projects, etc. And she was training for the same sh****y job we all were. That was probably the worst choice I have ever seen.

EDIT: this post took a different turn but I can dig it. I meant like those ADA, APhA certificates. I see asks like, 'should i complete this $600 prior authorization certificate to get out of retail?' and i want to scream 'just apply to the jobs themselves!'

dress code

How do you feel about your company dress code? Agree or disagree?

We do look more professional in business casual, but my feet will last longer in scrubs with comfortable shoes!

And when do you think it's necessary for management to dress nicer? I see some leadership in scrubs sometimes and the (not professional) part of me thinks 'who are you fooling? you don't do patient care!'

Has anyone really considered compounding like chapsticks, etc, as a side business? There is that one pharmacist is Indiana who streams often often about her CVS jobs and then transition into hospital that I believe it was a great segue into selling products on the side
