Masaru Maekawa and Zero Two Jinki have a hilarious (and annoying to their teammates) rival relationship. As the leaders of their own teams, (The 7-Ken, Masaru's team.) and the (The Photon Stars, Zero's team), they are always competing to prove who is the better and cooler boss. They love to argue about plans and try to outdo each other on every mission. But to make things more chaotic, the very smug Masaru likes to flirt with Zero Two Jinki sometimes just to be playful, tease her, and see if he can get a funny reaction out of her, which she 'highly dislikes,' but will tease him back on occasions herself. Lol

To Masaru, Kakashi isn't just a teammate, he's like the older brother he never had, and the one person who Masaru actually has deep trust in.

Even though Masaru likes to act tough, show-off, and claim he's way cooler than Kakashi, he still knows Kakashi is the only one who can see past the bravado, and knows him more than he knows himself. (Kakashi was the one who personally trained Masaru.)

Masaru has a deep, genuine love for Kakashi, to the point where if he actually needed to be vulnerable and talk about his real feelings, Kakashi is likely the first person he’d ever open up to.
