So this is a bit of a random origin story, but a few years back I was half-watching a National Geographic documentary about penguins, and there was this segment comparing Rockhopper and Macaroni penguins — similar crests, totally different personalities, both kind of ridiculous-looking in the best way. My brain just latched onto this "Rockaroni" penguin, and I couldn't stop thinking about what it would actually look like as a plush toy. I'm not a designer or a manufacturer, I just really like penguins, but that dumb idea wouldn't leave me alone, so I started sketching, found a manufacturer, and went through a stupid number of prototypes to get the crest feathers right. That's basically how Penguroo started — one weird thought during a nature documentary turned into an actual small Canadian business.
