6wpo internal exam
I'm 38 days post-op, and I had my 6 week exam today. I'm 42, had history of stage 2/3 endo diagnosed in 2008, ovarian cysts, small fibroids, adenomyosis.
I always managed getting a pap or transvaginal ultrasounds in the past, with some discomfort. However, I was very uncomfortable during the first surgical gyn consult and week later the uterine biopsy. I was dreading the 6 week post op visit more than the surgery itself.
Shockingly, it was so much easier today! Maybe my pelvic muscles are guarding less and/or there's no more pathology. I still got myself a sweet treat after, cuz I was brave.
My cuff has healed just fine. My gyn said I still have to do yearly bimanual internal exams to check on ovaries. He put me on vaginal estrogen cream, but didn't say for how long. He said to stay off birth control, which I was on for 18 years. Finally, he said that they'll do a hormone level check if I'm experiencing hot flashes and night sweats.
So basically, I'm going back to the real world soon. No longer in my cocoon of self-care bordering on self-indulgence
