There was just one element of the story that I was confused about. (I've finished the game, so feel free to spoil anything.)

What was Tempo and Yana's original plan when they met V and obtained the imprinting device? Was the original plan to imprint V onto Yana?
Were all three of them informed and consenting to that plan? What was each of their motivations to do so?
Why didn't they follow through with that plan? Did they use the device incorrectly and the wrong person got imprinted? Or did the original imprint fail for some other reason, and so they changed their plan and decided to imprint Tempo onto Yana instead?
