Blew the head gasket on my Element question about the block

I Need a quick sanity check on my K24 block before I waste time and money putting it back together. My Element started pushing coolant into the expansion tank, though the dash temp gauge stayed totally normal the whole time. I tore it down planning to just throw a rebuilt head, a new chain, and a fresh gasket on it to call it a day.

But after cleaning the block deck, I found some micro-pitting right on the seam where the iron cylinder sleeves meet the aluminum block. My fingernail easily catches on the lip right there at the transition.

If I drop a standard MLS gasket onto this without sending the block to a machine shop, is it pretty much guaranteed to blow out again? Thanks in advance for any info.
