Berlin Inferno Sessions 18:30
Berlin:
The show was super nice! More than just a listening event. Smoke machines, a planetarium-style introduction with BBC library-type sounds, very esoteric vibes, a lot of suspense and tension at the start. The space in Berlin was built between 1909 and 1911 as Berlin’s first crematorium; it operated for a century before being transformed into the acclaimed Silent Green Kulturquartier arts venue. The 17-metre-high octagonal domed hall really suited the esoteric presentation and reflected their logo, which also matched with their logo placed on the ground, centre of the tower with the audience seated around it, acting as a central flickering red light source, simulating the effect of projecting fire like visuals onto the domed ceiling, like gazing into flames to interpret shapes and colours to uncover insights of the album, guiding us towards the end of the listening session.
Overall, I really loved the album. Honestly, it’s one of those artists that are hard to hate or critique too heavily, more of a whole-album experience versus track by track. Of course, some tracks I liked more than others, and you could see the same reflected in the crowd; at some points people looked ready to leave, but everyone stayed until the end, out of our great love for the artists.
One track reminded me of this one by Momus (also Scottish). Momus - Candidate (David Bowie cover)
