Plaid?

About a half dozen times in the last decade I’ve been listening to random music and I think, “Hey! This song smacks!” and it’s a band called Plaid. Some tangential BoC vibes. Anyone know anything about them?

didn’t get the deluxe, but I’m still happy

pretty sure I’ve had this for about a month now and this is the second time I’ve listened to it fully. This song sometimes makes me wanna cry because of how beautiful it is and it kind of makes me feel like I’m free to do whatever I want. It makes me feel like I’m in my own mind in a way like it’s just a very crazy experience. The only thing I’d really want out of the deluxe version is the Lexus because oh God I would love to have that on my turntable.. but to be honest, it’s just too expensive, but I am still happy. I have the album and I can listen to rips of the flex disc. but to be honest, it doesn’t really feel right to just listen to it digitally. But you know it’s fine. It’s just a colossal huge bummer

Synced up the movie Naqoyqatsi with Inferno

So I was starting to watch the movie Naqoyqatsi for the first time. Description: "A visual montage portrait of our contemporary world dominated by globalized technology and violence." 37 minutes in I had the idea to sync up the movie with Inferno. So I went back to the beginning and muted the film on my laptop and pressed play on Inferno at the same time time as pressing play on the movie. I knew it would be trippy, but I wasn't expecting it to sync up as well as it did. Introit ended exactly as title sequence ended and I was intrigued. I ended up watching beyond the 37 minutes so some of the movie I saw for the first time with BoC soundtracking it.

So many times there were huge coincidences, like songs ending exactly as transitions occur in the movie, a ghostly sequence of people during Hydrogen Helium Lithium Leviathan, footage of industry expanding during The Word Becomes Flesh and a stream of cars rapidly driving while the sample mentions blood pumping. During Deep Time, the word TIME appears huge across the screen (45:46 into the movie). A part of a song (I forget which one) synced up really well with a sequence of faces on currency. During All Reason Departs, while the sample says, "There is a magical operation of maximum importance. The initiation of a new aeon. Before man is ready to accept the Law of Thelema, the great war must be fought", there's a CGI POV sequence inside what appears to be a computer chip and then a portal that leads to a map of the world and sonar or what appears to be bombs going off and the world map sort of explodes and fades into a POV in an aisle of a grocery store. I tried my best to explain it. Also during All Reason Departs, there's a sequence of wax heads of world leaders with trippy imagery and right when that sequence ends, Arena Americanada starts with an infrared image of a giraffe running. During You Retreat In Time and Space there's a series of religious symbols coming toward the screen and fire imagery. During I Saw Through Platonia there are rows of trees, rockets launching, and a bunch of explosions. And during this sequence it's presented in black and white resembling an x-ray with images superimposed over each other. I find this especially interesting because Platonia is a genus of several species of tree. This picture happens to resemble the rows of trees in the movie: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Platonia_insignis. The song happens to end with the image I posted of the sun. And then the movie immediately fades to black for a moment and then transitions to the next part of the movie. There are many moments like this in the movie, I'm only describing a few.

All of this is probably a big coincidence, but it's a really interesting one. Naqed my socks off! Now I will go back to the 37 minute mark and watch the rest of the movie with the Philip Glass soundtrack. At time of posting this I haven't even seen the full movie yet haha.

Beers of Canada

Just a BoC fan who happens to enjoy some craft beer :) Crossed the bridge to Windsor and got a nice haul - Godspeed from Toronto has to be my absolute favorite Canadian brewery so I waa stoked to not have to make a longer trip.

Is it just me or does memory death feel like a continuation of Corsair

I got the same uneasy hopeful feeling I did this first time I heard Corsair when memory death came on …. I was completely lost at words

This seems legit … thoughts?

Track length matches what it says online about Noatak from hooper bay - if this isn’t them this is an AMAZING imitation.

Hey DJs 👋.... Have you been able to mix any Inferno tracks into your sets?

Curious if anyone has mixed the new album into anything, from downtempo headphone sets to club settings. Keen to see if you're playing it out (or if you're a fan, you're hearing it out)

Olson | Over The Horizon Radar | Constants Are Changing | Sundown | ?

Every album has an "Olson" for lack of a better term, a fleeting ambient piece that feels like it strikes the perfect mood tonally on each album. Which Inferno track fits into this category?

I feel like the gut answer at first is "Deep Time" but it doesn't feel as ephemeral as the others, instead of being this fleeting singular sound it's a dynamic winding road. I have to give it to Platonia. For an album that seemingly rejects nostalgia, what could be less nostalgic than floating through timeless space? Entering the unknown as opposed to retreating into the past.

Also I'd be curious if people even agree with my picks of Olson-esque tracks. To me it isn't necessarily about nostalgia. I don't think Over The Horizon Radar sounds nostalgic; it sounds like the elation of coming up for air after going through something bad, like being reminded that something beautiful exists in the present.

I happen to be listening to BOC and captured this video of a warehouse that burned down in California and somehow the song fit perfectly

Thankfully no one was hurt

Uncommon "merch"

Hi there. I attended the BCN Inferno Sessions. When the event started and the doors opened, you could buy the token right at the entrance. I'm not sure why I decided to buy it after the listening experience instead. I even asked the guys there if they had enough tokens available, and they showed me hundreds of them, so I wasn't worried.

To my surprise, when the listening session ended and I came out of the cinema, there were no tokens left. The people who had been selling them were no longer there. I know—it was a pretty silly mistake on my part.

On the bright side, I managed to get some A3 sheets that Warp had available, explaining what the tokens were and providing some additional information, both in English and Catalan.

I know some of you will apreciate this kind of thing!
