My wife and I are a mixed race, mixed cultural couple and we are moving in a few more months from Chicago to Saint Augustine. We will be staying with my mom for a while, until we’ve landed and gotten our bearings with the big move, in the Shores.

Other than my mom and some immediate friends of hers, we don’t really have any kind of community there. And as we’re both originally from Miami and have lived in Chicago for a while, moving to a smaller town with a more Republican leaning demographic is… daunting.

What is it like being black in Saint Augustine? What does the queer community there look like? And the Jewish community?
