Maury Terry (June 29, 1946 – July 10, 2015) was an American investigative journalist and author of "The Ultimate Evil", a book proposing that the Son of Sam murders were connected to a wider network involving the Process Church and other occult groups. Terry’s work became a cornerstone of alternative theories surrounding the case, influencing documentaries and true‑crime discussions for decades.

Not free from controversy, he has been accused of doctoring evidence to fit his narratives, and picking and choosing eyewitness statements to fit his own theories, and more or less starting what would become known as 'The Satanic Panic' in the US and beyond in the 1980s.
