Thinking about ditching the riding mower for automation on 3 acres. Has anyone actually done this?
I've had a John Deere zero-turn for a few years cutting my 3 acre property. Usually I spend two and a half hours every Saturday doing my thing. But with summer coming, bouncing around over uneven ground in 90 degree heat with the noise and the exhaust fumes is tough. My back hurts afterward too, im just starting to get tired of it.
Dont get me wrong though, theres something satisfying about cutting nice clean lines yourself, and honestly i love the smell of the fresh grass and take it as an escape from reality sometimes.
Ive been looking at the RTK autonomous mowers recently. So it basicaly comes down to the standard AWD wheeled options like the Luba 2, against heavy-duty, utility tracked systems like the Yarbo. But can a battery powered robot actually manage 3 acres on its own? Given how rough my uneven ground is, would the tracked design handle the terrain better without slipping? What should I realistically expect?
