Advice Appreciated
Hello, I am currently waking up to my last morning at a very reputable and historical hotel that has now been owned by Omni for a couple decades. The stay has not been bad by any stretch of the imagination, but there have been a few moments that let me and my wife down. These instances have been very much service related. For example, I was sitting on the front porch the other morning at 8 AM, as many others were, and there was a circle of valets and bellhops talking loudly, and using profanity. I curse a lot, that’s fine, but maybe not on the front porch of a nice hotel where many families with young children are relaxing or checking in. At one point one of the gentleman in the semi-circle loudly expressed, “well nobody is giving us tips anyways.” More so, it took them a long while to pull my car up, which wouldn’t have been irritating, but a couple other groups had their cars pulled up within minutes after I had already requested mine. The housekeeping staff get an A+++. But the front desk and restaurant wait staff was spotty. (Food has been excellent, but again, just not very good service.) Finally, as I have awoken this morning, a bubble has developed in the ceiling paint. It’s dripping and the ground is soaked. Fortunately, none of our belongings are wet and we’re out of here in a few hours. I pride myself on giving people grace and trying to understand, but to me this is getting a little ridiculous. I will tell them about the leak, but I also feel like maybe I should seek some kind of compensation. What does everybody think? I’ve been a little let down by this stay, but when I consider how much I’ve spent, it actually makes me frustrated. I’m not one to expect anything to be comped just because a couple minutes of my stay were unpleasant. But I guess I mean to ask, is it even worth complaining about? Frankly, if all they’re going to offer is apologies and maybe a gift card to here, or another Omni, I’m probably just going to go about my day.
