Living alone
So I moved from my home town and country around 12 years ago, I’ve recently moved back … in with parents. I’m 30+.
The uk economy is dreadful, the housing market is woeful. I have a full time job, I commute a few times a week to the city. It’s a hefty 2+ hour commute a day, which annoyingly ends up putting me in the category of “first in, last out” so my hours make me fed up.
I have very little savings, but could move out and rent. I am super independent and the thought of living alone and having my own space is actually bliss. However, I know if I move out soon and start renting I’m even further down the line saving for a house deposit.
But on the other hand.. saving for a house deposit to live alone, when I’ve never actually officially lived alone - not sure if it’s the right move? I’ll be stuck in a mortgage for a long ass time.. I’ve also seen it’s pretty difficult to resell one bed flats too.
Just looking for advice more than anything really. Would you move out and rent? Stay at home and save for my own place? I pay towards where I live now, not necessarily rent but food shops and bills and WiFi (I wfh twice a week, it felt unfair although I had to beg to give them money! Great parents!!)
Anyone in similar situation? Any advice?
30+ woman if there’s anyone in similar position I’d love to hear how you navigated.
Thanks peoples :)
