Crying in front of my supervisors

Hi everyone,

Today during a meeting that was going pretty well, I asked if I could get help on something from another PhD student also in a project. My supervisor mostly said no, questioned what I had been working on and why it was not already done. After a bit of back and forth, I just started crying.

I don’t really care to say that how they manage is/is not the right way. I don’t understand why I cry so easily when overwhelmed, and if any of you have tips that helped them in similar situations. I am starting my 2nd year of PhD, it’s my first job out of uni, I’m afraid that it could happen in more serious meetings.

One common advice is to do something else a bit, etc. However I am not necessarily overworking myself, I have plenty of passions, I see a therapist once a month. But still, it happens. I know we all react differently to pressure, I would love to know how each of you learned to deal with it.
