Can I use this as a paludarium for shrimp?

I’ve never put together a paludarium before and I wanted to make this my first one so I can get a feel for how to make them. This way I can turn my 70gal tank into one for my garter snake eventually.

Anyways, I have the pump for it and wanted to make it a micro waterfall setup for some cherry/ghost shrimp.

Ive also never kept shrimp but I know shrimp are sensitive to shifts in water parameters, so here are some questions I have.

1: do I need a filter for it, or is the pump going to be enough

2: do I need a heater for it. I have one that’s for 2-10 gallons and keeps the water at 78°+/-2 and has over heating protection (4th pic)

3: am I able to keep the back portion of the tank on or should I take it out? it holds the foam filter that’s in the third picture. Not sure if it’ll be good to keep all that so I can get beneficial bacteria in the water.

4: If it’s best to remove the back, any tips on how to build the backing to allow the pump (or even a filter/heater) to fit properly?

Any other tips or anything would be greatly appreciated since this is my first time doing this!
