Toyota C-HR vs Honda HR-V vs Yaris Cross – ex BMW owner trying to be rational 😭

Trying to choose between a Toyota C-HR, Honda HR-V and Toyota Yaris Cross (2022–2023 hybrids) and I’m seriously stuck.

For context: I’m a woman in my early 30s living alone in Sweden. No kids, no dogs (a cat tho, but she is on house arrest), no need for huge practicality. I’m short and most of my friends and family is also pretty short, around 160-165 cm (5.2-5.4”).

I’ll probably drive 2-3 times a week, mostly city/suburban driving, shopping areas, errands, visiting family, some highway but not huge commuting. Maybe 50% of the time I’ll be alone, 40% with one passenger, 10% with someone in the back seat.

I’ve previously owned BMWs (3-series etc.) and honestly loved them, but I’m tired of feeling robbed every time something breaks. I want something reliable this time. Like genuinely reliable. I’m over surprise repair bills and constantly being at the mechanic.

My priorities are:
• Reliability (big one)
• Modern enough infotainment/music/media (doesn’t have to be Tesla-level, but I don’t want it to feel ancient)
• Comfort
• Sitting higher up
• Good visibility
• Looks matter (sorry 😭)

My problem is this:

Toyota C-HR 2022/2023 (X-edition) feels like the rational choice. Everyone says reliability is amazing and the interior/materials feel more “solid” than the Yaris Cross. But… I kind of hate how it looks. To me it looks a bit like a toy car and very sharp/angular. My eyes are not emotionally happy lol.

Honda HR-V 2022/2023(Elegance/Advance) surprised me. I LOVE how it looks. It feels more like a “real SUV” and weirdly gives me a mini BMW X3 vibe (obviously not actually one, but closer than the C-HR). Looks more grown-up and airy to me. But I keep seeing people say it feels slow/sluggish and that worries me.

Toyota Yaris Cross also looks nice and practical, kind of mini SUV vibes, but something about it feels more budget inside? I can’t fully explain it.

I haven’t test driven them yet, which I know I need to do.

I don’t care about sporty performance anymore like I did with my BMWs, but I also don’t want something painfully slow leaving traffic lights or entering highways.

I’m aware that Mazda CX-5 and Toyota RAV4 is also an option, but unfortunately they’re outside of my budget.

My budget is around 250-300.000 Swedish krona (27-30.000 USD), for a car from 2022/2023 with no more than 3500 km (2200 miles).

If you were me, which would you choose and why?

Especially from an ownership/reliability/comfort perspective, with owning it for about 5-6 years.
