I posted a week or so back and based on feedback am planning to get an 891. Then maybe a 921 in the future. But I’m not seeing many Father’s Day deals for 891s.
I did however find a DCB205C (charger with one 5ah battery) for $199 with a free 921. Then an 891 tool only at HD for $219. Does $420 combined sound like a reasonable deal or best to keep looking?
I’ve got replace struts, control arms (including ball joints), and brakes on my 17 year old rust belt Forester. I was going to get the 921 because I can see myself using it more regularly. But then I watched the Torque Test video and thought the 891 might be a better fit for this job due to the breakaway torque capability. I can only choose one at the moment.
My only real concern with the 891 is breaking things if I try to use it for smaller jobs. I’ve used heavier duty torque tools at work, but no experience using them on things like this or other weekend warrior homeowner type jobs.
Any feedback from those with experience using both tools?
EDIT: Thanks all, great feedback! I think I’ll get the 891 to get me through this job. Then maybe pick up a 923 down the road for smaller tasks.
