Whole Foods is already pissing distance from where this will be,and this store doesn’t offer anything that WF doesn’t already. I would be down with a Trader Joe’s as there are at least some things there that affordable to the average person, but Sprouts is pretentious über alles and the furthest thing from what this area needs. I’d be happy with a Food Lion; I know there’s one down Skidaway a ways, but the options right here for us far-from-affluent folk in Twickenham,Ben Van Clark,Live Oak,et al are insanely limited and all pretty shitty across the board. Even the new Aldi is rather lackluster; I’ve lived in other parts of the country rife with Aldis every few miles, and they’ve all been so much larger and better than the two Savannah has, even and especially the ones that were located in really bad neighborhoods in larger cities.

This just reeks of tone deafness from city planners that rather than focusing on fixing up the shitty Kroger or Aldi,or putting another grocery store that the average lower to middle class person can shop at,which is what the majority of the surrounding area is,they want to put in yet another store that serves zero purpose and further alienates those who don’t own cars from being able to affordably shop in their own neighborhoods.

Mourning the loss of Narobia’s

At the risk of sounding like a tourist (I promise I’m not),can anyone recommend somewhere that is similar to Narobia’s for breakfast that is similar in price and authenticity? I had no idea that they closed shop in March; it was only when I checked their hours that I found out and I’m super bummed. I feel like I’ve hit every respectable breakfast place in town but something is always just kind of missing, especially in the grits and biscuits and gravy departments.

I just discovered this small cemetery while walking a client’s dogs today. It’s at the dead end of Alaska Street, past what looks to be an abandoned church that doesn’t appear to be affiliated with this presumably secular cemetery. It also appears to be entirely African Americans buried there. I’m not sure if it’s still in use,not all the graves are old,but most are. The gates were locked but I got in through an open area of the fence.

Does anyone know the history of this cemetery? I can’t find anything online about it and AI brings up something else entirely,of course.
