Laminaria Insertion - your experience? Numb? Not numb?

Called the clinic where I am scheduled one week from today to get some clarification about pain management and ask some questions to calm my nerves. I WILL be getting IV Sedation and paracervical block for day 2 (the actual procedure). I WILL NOT be getting a paracervical block for day 1, the Laminaria insertion. (I will be 21 weeks the day of my procedure)

So, for those of you that have done an SA 2 day procedure,

-were you numbed for the Laminaria placement?

-how long did Laminaria placement take and if you were not numbed, how bad was it?

-can you request to BE numbed for it? I’m sure it will be extra $ I’m just curious.

Any and all experiences surrounding cervical prep are welcome. I’m going through with this no matter what. Just trying to learn more.

Thank you.

SA scheduled - Zero Guilt. I want it over with.

Hello. I had posted a couple days ago about how I did a poll abortion at 10/11ish weeks. Found out at 19w5d it didn’t work.
(WV, traveling to MD for my procedure)

I feel zero attachment to the pregnancy. I did not intend to be pregnant. Mentally, I do not feel pregnant. Physically, I am extremely uncomfortable. I feel very separated from myself. I don’t feel like me. I do not feel guilty or sad about my decision. I do not feel any regret, never “am I doing the right thing?”. I am 150% firm in my decision.

My 2 day in clinic procedure is Oct 14 & 15. While I am anxious about both the cervical prep and the procedure itself, more than anything I just want to not be pregnant anymore. As far as I understand it, day 1 I will get the anesthesia straight to my cervix prior to the seaweed stick dilators. Day 2 I will get IV “twilight” sedation and then another cervix needle anesthesia.

I’ve had a LEEP procedure before so I’ve had the needle. It sucks but I will be fine.

Just needed to put this somewhere.

Failed Medical Abortion - totally lost.

Gyn says I was likely about 10-11 weeks when I took the pills. I bled a lot. I didn’t go in for a follow up because I got the pills in the mail and was between doctors and terrified (illegal in my state)

I had been taking tests after the pills that seemed to be getting lighter but was still getting positives at 8 weeks, called my new doc a week prior to my initial appt to discuss. They said we would figure it out in office. Went today and found out I’m 19w5d. I’m devastated. I’m going to move forward with surgical abortion and I’m terrified. Dissociating.

Advice or stories or anything welcome I guess.

Just afraid, I guess.

Took the mife Wednesday around 9pm est. Going to take the miso Saturday morning.

The mife has made me nauseous, some cramping here and there. No blood.

I’m believed to be 7-8 weeks, possibly up to 12.

I know this is what I want. I am not sad. I do not want children. I know this is temporary and for the best. I’m just afraid of the miso and actually expelling 😞

(I have incontinence underwear, a heating pad, ibuprofen and meclizine. My partner will be with me)
