Possible cat lungworm
Hello, sorry for bad english.
TLDR, my cat is getting lungworm treatment but we don't know if she's infected or not.
Not asking for vet advice but for explanation of x-rays.
I have no idea how to add images to the post, sorry. At the bottom is the imgur link but I¡ll leave it here as well: https://imgur.com/a/UnTB5Cp
Female cat, about 4 years old, I live on a 6th floor so only outside access she gets is a balcony. She eats anything that can fit in her mouth and I need to be extra careful with what I leave around, but I let her hunt and eat insects. Usually moths which are the most common thing around here, but I've seen her with locusts, dragonflies, ladybugs, etc. Anything goes for her. But specially moths, we even sort of communicate when she sees a moth that is on the ceiling and needs me to get it down, or when I see a moth near me and I call her to come get it. I sound crazy but I swear we understand each other.
I have another cat about the same age, male, not much of a hunter but more of a sleepy baby. He does not eat bugs.
About a year ago the female started with a very nasty cough. I had bought a new sofa and thought it might be related, but other cat showed no symptoms.
Took her to the vet, they did x-rays (which are the ones attached here) and told me she has asthma. I changed many things in the house, got dust free litter for their boxes, removed all air fresheners and similar, no more candles, I stopped smoking inside.
I've been giving her inhaler shots twice a day but they do nothing. Only thing that seems to calm her coughs are salbutamol drops, which I'm supposed to slowly replace with the inhaler, but always end up back to the drops because inhaler does nothing.
Recently my vet told me she could have lungworms, which is unlikely but possible. I was supposed to get poop samples from three consecutive days and thought it would be easy since she loudly meows before pooping. First time I tried to get the sample she got angry and since then has not meowed before entering the litterbox and poops exclusively during the night.
So now the vet is going to give her the lungworm medication regardless just in case. But I am curious and want to know if she does have them. She coughs and then swallows, she is still very active, eats normally, destroys stuff, poops at night, everything normal. My other cat only coughs when spitting hairballs (which I need to clean asap since the female will go and eat them).
Thanks for reading all this, I am sorry i wrote too unnecessary details but that is a "me" problem.
What do you guys think?
