I know every series has its arguments about “best contestants” or “best tasks,” but honestly one of my favourite things about Taskmaster is just how comforting it’s become.

There are shows that make me laugh, and then there’s Taskmaster — the show I put on when life is stressful and I need to hear five comedians argue about yoghurt or balloons for 45 minutes.

Somehow it’s stayed genuinely warm-hearted all the way through:

• contestants helping each other even when they shouldn’t,
• everyone applauding terrible attempts,
• Alex getting teased/picked on in increasingly creative ways,
• those rare moments where Greg looks genuinely proud of someone for doing something completely pointless.

And every fan seems to have that moment they instantly associate with happiness:

• Bob Mortimer’s stories,
• Mel saying “oh gang,”
• Mike Wozniak being unbelievably earnest,
• Bridget Christie confusing Alex beyond human comprehension,
• the entire cast losing it over something incredibly stupid.
