Taking my cat to get euthanized - should I wait?

My 3 year old cat has been losing weight and eating good some days and some days I can’t get him to eat hardly anything. He is not as energetic and just seemed not himself. I noticed his breathing seemed to be faster and harder yesterday so I took him to the vet today. They did an X-ray and said they could see what they thought was fluid. She wanted to sedate him to get better X-rays and warned if they saw something that needed emergent care they would need to possibly do surgery. She said they would do some blood tests first to rule out feline leukemia (which was negative) and FIP which she said was in a gray area. She also said his hemoglobin was extremely low and his kidney markers were off. The anemia was so bad she immediately ruled out the sedation and X-rays and said they couldn’t do anything more for him because he would need a transfusion and they couldn’t do that at their clinic. I would need to take him to a hospital 3 hours away and she couldn’t guarantee it would help. She said the prognosis is probably poor and said she could euthanize if that’s the route I wanted to take. I asked to bring him home to say goodbye and she gave him pain meds and fluids under his skin. He ate some chicken and some treats tonight but is very weak and still breathing abdominally and hard, but he has moments where he seems ok. I don’t know if I’m just trying to hold out hope but I also don’t want him to suffer 😿

Family member was determined no longer disabled after a CDR and SSI was stopped and she hasn’t received any benefits for 2 months. She decided not to appeal because she wants to try and see if she can work at least part time. However, SSA keeps trying to set up a phone appointment for the regular redetermination review regarding her finances and living situation. Is this normal? The letters say if she doesn’t respond that her benefits will be stopped, but they already have been stopped, so no threat there. Is this likely

just an oversight and the case worker trying to set up the appointment can’t see that her benefits are already stopped? She usually has the redetermination phone interview around this time every year so maybe it’s just been automatically scheduled in the system before she was determined no longer disabled and it’s a mistake, or does SSA have the right to your information and a phone interview even after benefits are no longer being paid? She really wants to avoid any interaction with SSA and ignore the calls and interview requests. Are there any repercussions for ignoring them?
