The margin release does not work well. It looks like someone fixed it with a paper clip, or similar wire. Is it possible to find the correct part to replace this wire? If so, any suggestions where I would find it?
Have you ever put a bid on a typewriter then hoped someone would outbid you?
I came across a sweet typewriter from the early 1900’s. I could imagine it all cleaned up. There was only one low bid, so I put in my little amount.
Then I had bidder’s regret.
I realized I am not up to the degree of cleaning needed.
For several days, nobody bid. Then, in the final minutes, bids went back and forth and the final price was out of my league.
Happily, this is one that got away!

Can somebody tell me, is this a Royal Model 10 desktop standard typewriter? Am I correct in thinking the metal spools need to stay put and after cleaning it, a plastic spool should be bought and and then threaded into the metal spool? It's not my typewriter and is in storage right now so I can't get all the information off of it.
I finally got a chance to clean this Royal Mercury and get it in working order. It’s so lightweight and I am looking so forward to traveling with it!
