Dell Latitude 7430 Refubrished

Currently using a Dell Latitude 5540 with:

  • Intel Core Ultra 7 155U
  • 32GB RAM

I’m considering buying a refurbished Dell Latitude 7430 and trying to understand how much of a downgrade it would actually be.

The 7430 specs:

  • Intel Core i7-1265U / 12650U (seller page mentions both)
  • 32GB DDR4
  • 256GB SSD
  • 14” WUXGA touchscreen
  • Thunderbolt 4
  • 63Wh battery

Usage:

  • Heavy multitasking
  • Lots of Chrome tabs
  • Excel / BI dashboards
  • SQL / Python
  • AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, etc.)
  • General business/travel laptop

Main questions:

  1. How noticeable is the performance gap between the Ultra 7 155U and the 12th gen i7 in daily real-world use?
  2. Is battery life significantly worse on the 7430?
  3. Is the Latitude 7430 still considered a high-end business laptop in 2026?
  4. Overall, would this feel like a downgrade or just an older enterprise machine that still holds up well?
  5. Anything important to check when buying a refurbished Latitude?

Would appreciate input from anyone who used both generations or owns a 7430.
Price offer I have is 880 usd any thought ?

Thanks
