People think that there is some sort of decision if made, Algeria becomes Japan.
So this country has had a huge problem with importing wheat, dairy, etc. due to a lack of agriculture. Why? Due to a lack of water. Why not build desalination plants by the sea? We are building them. Why not before? Because it was expensive per cubic metre and only became economically justifiable to do recently. Why not then invest in agriculture? We are doing that now, 80% of our wheat is local, and we are aiming to cut all wheat imports by 2027.
Why are cars expensive? Due to a lack of imports. Why don't we import cars? We lack euros/dollars to import them. Why not manufacture cars here? We have started doing so and are continuing to do so.
I don't understand Algerians, man. Whenever I see you all arguing online, it's always secularism vs. Islamism or capitalism vs. communism/socialism.
Your problems are a lack of water, therefore a lack of animals to raise for dairy and meat, and a lack of agriculture.
You think if Algeria changed its government tomorrow, these problems would change? You would still have to build desalination plants, build a phosphate complex for fertiliser production, do car manufacturing with established companies, and push for LPG and electric batteries due to both being possible to manufacture locally.
You need to stop arguing that ideology is what fixes an economy instead of concrete problem-solving. If you can't, maybe quit politics. Sometimes I thank God there is no democracy in this country. You would either vote for an Islamist to bring us 1,000 years backward or a secularist who would open Algeria up in a way where we start buying our own petrol from foreign companies, like how Morocco is doing.
