[34/M] outdoorsy cinephile
Hey there! Im a rare breed here that loves to be outdoors hiking running and camping on the weekends but in a movie theater watching some classics during the week. And I do a lot of both so looking for people who also enjoy either.
I’m a long time penpal-er(?) and have connected with some great people around the world through this subreddit, some of which I’m still writing with after many years (a few of which I owe a letter back to after months of traveling!). I’m looking to add 1-2 penpals to my monthly writing as some extra time has freed up.
About me: like the title says, during the week I love exploring indoor / city hobbies (film/tv, cooking, running, thrifting, goodwill, neighborhood exploring) and then I go full weekend warrior (planning mini-getaways for camping, hiking, nat park visits, quirky little towns, spending time in local mountains, beach laying, etc).
Movie-wise, I love going to indie theaters, watching Criterion Channel and discovering hidden gems and international stories. I have a good community of cinephile friends and we’re always Letterboxd’ing and exploring stories from different parts of the world. I’d love to write with someone also exploring film and sharing recs and movie-going experiences.
Outdoors-wise, I love charting new hikes and backpacking routes, visiting the US Nat Parks and maybe some int’l Nat Parks (would love some recs!) and getting into nature as often as possible.
I also love to write about life and maybe provide some mentorship to people starting off their individual lives post high school / college / first job. This time period of my life was pretty tumultuous and depressing and scary for me, but I made some hard choices and looks in the mirror before changing my life to make it fully my own. I’d love to chat with people going through similar times and maybe wanting a sounding board.
I’d love to chat with folks who maybe have similar hobbies or passions. I usually prefer snail mail but I may be open to email penpals if we have a good overlap of interests or it’s easier.
