Taking my daughter to Forest Hills tonight — her first DMB show, just the two of us

Took the whole family to the Camden lawn last summer, honestly more as an excuse to get the kids out for a night than anything — and my daughter got completely, unexpectedly hooked. Knew the words to half the encore by the end of it. So tonight it's just me and her — she's 10 — no blanket, no crew, up in the seats at Forest Hills for her first real "this one's ours" show.

I'm trying not to be the dad who overhypes it, but I'm a little giddy. Her favorite is Louisiana Bayou, which I know hasn't gotten an airing in a long time — so I'm not getting her hopes up, but… what are the realistic odds, honestly? And if not that, what's the one song you'd want a brand-new young fan to hear live? (Me, personally? I'm hoping for Papertown — there's something about that acoustic-and-fiddle that reminds me even a couple hundred shows in, they can still put out something that stops you cold.)

Also keeping one eye on the forecast — if the rain gods turn on us, well, JTR might just become a thing. 🌧️

Will report back on how she liked it. 🎻

Heads-up for anyone else heading to Forest Hills tonight: I'm seeing an early 7pm start, so give yourself time. We're taking public transit in, which I'd recommend over dealing with parking around there. And one more: no umbrellas allowed inside — though you can check them at the gate for a fee — so plan your rain gear accordingly. Don't be the one who misses the opener.
