took my boy camping

i took my boy rolo cmping for the first time. hes turning two in august and i was really needing a reset so we went 6 days in the mountains the first dy or two he was confused hes def a house prince. like ugh why do we hve to sleep in a tent lol it wasnt as bad as it sounds it was boarderline glamping. we hd a mattress off the ground, lots of blankets and firewood and snacks and he got to run and do zoomies around the forest. he was scared the first night because lighting lit up the mountain skies fallowed by thunder but he guarded me from the skies and got used to the simple life. i hd to hand feed him kibble by kibble the first night he wouldnt eat, he started liking the freedom to just wander where he wanted the fresh air, and the lake behind us with all the new smells of nature.

we stayed 6 nights and packed up in a winter storm soaking wet but i swear the experience bonded him to me even more than he already is. like we just spend 6 days in nature guarding the other while we go to the bathroom lol he doesnt leave my side now.

one of the best adventures weve been on it ws so simple yet really bonded every step of the way . i hope to make it a yearly adventure so im glad by the end of it he was good with it. i was scared he got too used to his luxuries and support stuffed animals to be ok camping but he did well and i think appretiated the time together as much as i did.

everyone thought i was nuts for going to bear country alone but i didnt want to go camping with anyone else but him. i needed it so much . i dont think anyone but us understood the need to ground ourselves and sleep in the forest together.

he completely wigged out upon seeing what i call a giant wood beetle of some sort buggy lookin thing and it was hilarious to watch rolo interact with it. it wasnt dangerous it would just buzz and click and hop around and rolo had no clue what it was but he kept sniffing it out on the forest floor and then would wig out when it clicked on his nose

these will be the memories we both cherrish the rest of our lives
