Medi-Cal only cares about current monthly income? What?!
I got laid off recently and now my only income is unemployment. When I went to sign up for covered califonia, they have a confusing screen for income. You cant really put a finite amount from a previous job. So I called the help line to get it sorted out. They told me that even though I got a large income so far this year, i would still qualify for medi-cal because my current earnings in the $450/week unemployment.
This went against everything I have heard and seen on the covered California site. If that is true, wouldnt everyone be on medi-cal who is on unemployment? Is covered california really only for people who have a job that doesnt give benefits?
I spent the hour applying fot medi-cal, and still feel like there is no way I qualify. I made too much money to even get cheap covered california options with the cheapest at $700. So I am just shocked that they say forget your annual earnings, its only monthly earnings.
Any insight appreciated.
