Extremely close range city fireworks
I have two cats, one is 17 and the other is 15 and VERY afraid of thunder. I moved in to an apartment next to the park they set fireworks off in last year. While I was moving in on the 4th my cats were still at the previous apartment. I did not realize the city sets the fireworks off a few hundred feet from my back patio and it isn’t only loud, the sound ricochets off the walls between the buildings and sounds like shotguns going off, and to top it all off it shakes the entire building. There is no getting away from it. My first idea was to take them to an animal hotel, which they do not have many of in my location and are seemingly all booked. My next idea was to get some large travel enclosures for my cat and drive them out far enough they won’t hear or see them at all, wait it out and go back, but they hate car rides and especially hate being in the car for long stretches of time. I don’t want to go to the vet for any prescriptions because I’m afraid of sedatives due to their ages. Most things I’ve read say to turn on the tv loud, or put them in a quiet place and stay with them, but because of the shaking, I can’t really do that. I’m open to ANY ideas! Thanks!
