Did Rorschach exist in the main DC Universe? (The Question Omnibus by Dennis O’Neil) [Comic Excerpt]
EDIT: I reread the issue, and it literally starts with Vic picking up a copy of Watchmen at the airport. So Rorschach is a fictional character within the mainline DC Comics like ours. Thanks y’all!
I started reading The Question Omnibus by Dennis O’Neil, and it’s an absolutely amazing story, can’t believe I missed out on this!
In one of the issues, Vic/The Question is having nightmares based on the guilt of not saving somebody, and he views himself as Rorschach from Alan Moore’s Watchmen. Not only that, he refers to him by name, not simply the psychological test used. Now it’s a neat little Easter Egg as originally, Moore wanted to use Charlton Comics characters in his story, a company DC Comics incorporated in the 1980s, and had to replace the Question with Rorschach.
Now, he could simply be joking, but was Vic actually referring to an actual character named Rorschach in the main DC Universe? The comic appears to be set within the main universe, and while Watchmen is a separate universe, this could simply be a different character with the same name. Thanks!
