Cat seems really distressed and won’t stop scratching furniture
I’ve recently moved from a 4 bedroom house to a 2 bedroom flat due to a break up. I’ve got a 2 year old BSH cat. She’s always been very vocal and has previously scratched at the sofa but never any wooden furniture
Since I moved, she won’t stop scratching my new wooden furniture to the point where the surface of it is peeling off. I‘ve got a feliway optimum plug in, got multiple scratch posts of various designs and materials with catnip on them, got deterrent spray and sticky sheets on the furniture that she’s been scratching but she just won’t stop and is so determined to scratch it. She’ll stand near the furniture and meow loads as if she’s really upset that she can’t scratch it. I move her onto her scratch post/mats when she does go to scratch it but it doesn’t seem to stop her for long
She’ll only try to do it when I’m nearby, no evidence of her doing it when I’m not in the room. She’s got loads of toys and I play with her multiple times a day and also give her lots of fuss and attention
Any advice to help calm her down and stop the scratching would be appreciated! She’s due her yearly vet check up in a few weeks and I’ll mention it there
