Fluker Farms

I didn't know which flair to use exactly, but I'm not in need of help atm, just wanted to warn people.

DO NOT ORDER HISSERS FROM FLUKER FARMS. I've never heard about anyone ordering hissers from fluker farms or reviews. And I did. I really shouldn't have. A majority of my hissers from them had missing limbs. It was so so sad to see. I emailed them about my hissers as well, telling them that they were a bit sluggish and missing limbs. They responded and said they would tell their shipping team about it. Haven't heard anything since. They also came in VERY skinny and super hungry. I've had these roaches for a couple months now so I've fattened them up and they're healthier now.

I asked them to show conditions of their roach bins as well. They never sent me photo proof. Just said that they keep a maximum number of roaches per bin. And didn't explain further. I assume from my roaches condition, that they are underfed and probably munching on each other when molting. As these roaches as adults especially have super tough exoskeletons. It's not normal for them to have limbs ripped off or dropped.

If you want to order hissers or any feeders from them please try more ethical breeders!! I wish I could do more but this post is my attempt at that.

Feeding large colonies?

I have some questions about feeding larger quantities of hissers (breeding colony). I want to be thorough so I'm asking a lot of questions. Hopefully this post can be a guide for other keepers as well.

What do you feed growing colonies with over 30 roaches that's the most inexpensive? I know you can use chicken food but is that okay for the bulk of their diet? I would be supplementing/giving the option of veggies and Repashy bug burger about 3 times a week (switching between the two). Would chicken food have too much calcium?

*🛑 I Always remove uneaten food after a day or two to prevent molding in higher humidity. But if that happens I feed less. I feel I should only feed them what they are able to eat in a day🛑*

I am currently feeding repashy bug burger as the main staple with some fish food and veggies to supplement, however they go through repashy so fast. And it's more pricey. I don't want to take it away completely from them but I do need to cut back a bit bc of the price. Also, is there anyway to make the repashy bug burger last longer? Such as putting some in dry or mixing into a paste with cold water instead of hot? Or does it not really matter and it will last the same amount of time?

Any advice is appreciated! Answer what you can. I may have to do some experimenting on feeding schedule as well but let me know your thoughts!

What can I keep in this terrarium?

I was thinking about keeping hissers in here originally but I'm worried that the babies will escape through the small gap from the doors. The gap is slightly less than 1/4cm The dimensions of this terrarium are 36"x18"x12" (zoomed) the species would preferably require humidity but I can redo the enclosure to fit the needs of another invert. Maybe another roach species? I was also wanting one that would be a display animal.
