can hissing roach nymphs climb scotch tape?

ive been using vaseline with no issues but cleaning it off and reapplying it every few months is so time consuming and i wonder if theres a easier way to prevent escape. if there isnt that is fine ill just keep doing what im doing

I found a small spider in my kisser tank, it looks like it might be in the process of molting in a corner. Leave it for now?

Hisser* my fault for not checking...

I'm not sure what kind of spider this is and I don't know if it would be a threat to my 3 adult hissers, I have no babies in my tank. I am also not sure if the spider is in the process of molting right now or not, but I don't want to destroy it's webbed hide and potentially hurt it.

I have a strip of Vaseline rubbed around the upper interior edge of my tank to prevent my roaches from climbing up to the ventilation holes, but I realized I made a mistake by not also putting a strip of Vaseline on the *outer* upper edge of the tank... Stuff can climb up and get in, but not out. I saw an ant that had gotten stuck in the tank recently but didn't think to check for spiders.

Should I just leave the spider alone for now and maybe see if I could make a little stick ramp up to one of the ventilation holes by the top of my tank? I don't think it would want to be in there if there's no food, and I have never seen fruit flies or any other small bugs in there other than the single ant.

Thoughts?

Is this a suitable enclosure?

I have just one adult male and one female for now, the enclosure is 12x8x6 inches, and the substrate eco-earth mixed with peat moss.

Two questions: can i use play sand as substrate? What other species can cohabitate?

I have a lot of place and and want a lot of bugs and want to conserve as much as I can. Maybe BDFBs?

BABIES FIRST MOLT!!! (Celebration treat question)

I CAUGHT MY BABIES MID MOLT LAST NIGHT!!!!

It's been about 3 1/2 weeks since I was first shocked by their appearance, I have kept a close eye on everyone since, everyone has been doing wonderful tho! ❤️❤️❤️... Besides daddy Scuttlebug being super mad at me for installing the tank divider lol.

I would love to celebrate by treating them to sometning special today. I'm paranoid about what i feed them, I don't want to make them sick or hurt them in any way of course. I know they basically eat anything anyway, but I was curious what sweets you guys have given your hissers and what they really enjoyed, like possibly cookies or cake or anything like that if it's safe for them.

I already feed them Fuji apples, a salad mix, bananas, potato bits, puppy kibble, small amounts of dry blueberry oatmeal, very small amounts of seedless raspberry preserves occasionally, and sometimes little bits of blackforest ham. ❤️❤️❤️

(Yes the wood in there is foraged, it is NOT pine, cedar or redwood, it was extensively scrubbed, boiled, dried, then baked for several hours on low heat before added to their enclosure)

Is my sweetheart okay?

I wanted to hold Beren and Arwen, which I hadn't done in weeks, and once Beren was in my hand he started pulsating like this. He was alert and reacting to touch, but his front legs were a little limp. I put him back and increased the humidity a little in case he was about to molt, but it's been hours and he hasn't molted yet. He's back to normal, but I'm concerned. When I got him several months ago, the pet store guy told me he might have one molt left, but I'm not sure about it.

Dissappeared roach found!!!!

I finally found my little escapee!!!! Still have no idea how he got out, I must've left the enclosure lid slightly open. I found him under my TV stand in a box whilst rummaging through my LPS collection.

God, I am so glad and relieved he is alive and seems well (a little skittish — which is normal for him — so I had a bit of trouble getting him back to the enclosure)

Baby is back home now :3

Aborted eggs & sad mama

One of my girls is sitting rather sadly next to what looks like her aborted eggs. Can I do anything to help her? I keep my roaches gender separated and didn’t want babies but am sad for her.

Should I remove them or will she consume them for protein? Or is there a chance they may still hatch? They just appeared this morning.

She may be older; she was an adult when I got her a year ago from Petco in a container where everyone was dying or already dead. (I was there for cat food but couldn’t leave them like that.) She’s now in good shape and has girlfriends, but her health may have remained a little fragile from that. Thanks for your help!

Roach just disappeared

I haven't seen one of my roaches around in their terrarium, and thought that he's just hiding somewhere else. But today I still couldn't find him, so i decided to take the other roachies and all the 'decoration' out to properly go through the substrate, and he's just GONE. I'm worried that somehow I've let him escape?? Or he's been eaten, which I feel is super unlikely, but that's why I'm asking here.

It breaks my heart to think he might be in my house outside the terrarium and one day I'll find a dead roach somewhere :(

What do I do, what could've happened???

Prim passed away this morning

Yesterday I posted that she was dying and this morning it happened. I am heartbroken. I wanted to say a few things about her and share some memories. I got prim around 3 years ago and she was one of my original roaches. Around a year after I got her I realized how amazing she was and she became my favorite. Since then I would spend so much time with her and we would do so much together. She was very calm and polite and she had never hissed ever. I got her as an adult so she was pretty old and died of old age. Prims full name is primula and that is basically the scientific name for primrose. I named her primula because I didn't want her to be confused with prim from the hunger games but then I started calling her prim anyway. Over the years she touched so many people's hearts and helped many get over their fear of bugs. I wish she could know how much she was loved.

Is everything looking okay with my hissers?

I have one male and one female. Their names are Sōhei and Yuki! I think I have finally found what foods they like best.

My roaches gave birth. I have no idea what to do with them.

So, I have 7 roaches in total (Halloween & Madagascar hissing cockroach). They all live in the same tank together. They recently just had their first batch of babies, I have no idea what to do with these babies. I also have no idea if the babies are from the Halloween or the Madagascar hissing cockroaches or even both (can they hybridize?). Any help would be appreciated!
